Job Summary: 


The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily custodial operations across all Argus Community facilities, including administrative offices, residential programs, and treatment sites. The position ensures that all locations maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance. The Housekeeping Supervisor directly supervises housekeeping personnel, coordinates staffing and operational activities, and works collaboratively with Facilities Management to support a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for staff, clients, residents, and visitors. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor the housekeeping and custodial staff across all Argus Community locations.
  • Establish and maintain a real-time communication protocol to alert the Facilities Management team of daily staffing call-outs and document the specific coverage plans implemented to ensure no lapse in facility services
  • Coordinate daily shift assignments and mobile "roving" teams to ensure consistent coverage for both office and residential sites.
  • Conduct regular 1-on-1 supervisions and performance evaluations; address any attendance or "time-integrity" issues immediately.
  • Facilitate training sessions on proper sanitation techniques, the use of industrial cleaning equipment, and professional conduct in residential settings.
  • Ensure all sites remain in 100% compliance with NYC Department of Health (DOHMH), OASAS, and OMH hygiene standards.
  • Develop and enforce strict cleaning schedules for high-traffic and high-acuity areas to prevent the spread of illness.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all cleaning chemicals and ensure staff are trained on OSHA Hazard Communication standards.
  • Monitor equipment and material usage; maintain detailed records of equipment repair and supplies to ensure staff have the necessary resources and that assets are being properly cared for.
  • Oversee the ordering, storage, and distribution of cleaning agents, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and paper products to minimize waste and control costs.
  • Coordinate with the Facilities Management team for the maintenance and repair of custodial equipment (vacuums, floor buffers, etc.) to ensure longevity and safety.
  • Conduct regular, site inspections to assess cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and facility presentation.
  • Maintain detailed logs of completed tasks, chemical inventories, and staff productivity for review by the SVP of Facilities and the Director of Facilities.
  • Identify and report building maintenance issues (leaks, broken fixtures, tripping hazards) discovered during cleaning rounds to the Facilities Operations Manager.

 

Qualifications/Criteria:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to supervise staff across multiple locations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic reporting systems.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License preferred.

 

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and/or fingerprinting (department-dependent), which will be conducted following a conditional offer of employment in adherence to NYC Fair Chance Act guidelines.
