Position Summary

The Office of Analytics & Institutional Reporting supports the strategic mission of Weill Cornell Medicine by providing key stakeholders with valuable information, interpreting a high volume and wide variety of budget, workforce, labor, and other institutional data. As a division within the Budget & Financial Strategy department, the successful candidate in this role will utilize their ability to interpret business requirements into technical specifications and deliver solutions that drive important decisions for institutional leadership and other stakeholders. It is also expected that an increased understanding of budget and institutional reporting requirements over time will enhance the quality and variety of solutions that this role provides.

Job Responsibilities

  • Interprets business context related to a variety of institutional subject matter, including institutional budget, research, clinical practice, and education.
  • Develops and applies knowledge of higher education fund and general ledger metrics to translate business needs into actional data analysis, reporting, and insights.
  • Works collaboratively with teammates and other departments in delivering business and technical solutions that drive important institutional decisions.
  • Cleanses, transforms, and validates data from a wide variety of sources using Python, DAX, VizQL, SQL, and other methodologies/tools.
  • Maintains existing reporting workflows, offering improvements where necessary.
  • Imports, models, and builds visualizations using Power BI and Tableau to service strategic decision.
  • Effectively manages multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment while balancing individual responsibilities with those of the AIR team and Budget Department.
  • Participate in the collection, review, analysis, and submission of institutional data for various surveys, including IPEDS, AAMC, LCME, and more.
  • Performs other related duties as directed.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in math, statistics, computer science or related technical field.

Experience

  • Budget subject matter experience preferred.
  • Approximately 3-5 years’ experience as a Data Analyst with direct professional experience with Python (Pandas, Numpy, similar libraries), modeling and visualization with Power BI and Tableau, metrics customization with DAX and VizQL
  • Experience accessing, cleansing and performing analysis from one or more of the following sources: transactional tables, OLAP data models, BI data marts, SQL-based data warehouses, semi-structured/unstructured data environments
  • Experience outlining objectives, forming hypotheses, and carrying out analysis to drive measurable business impact.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated implementation of critical thinking, initiative, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to adjust and adapt to satisfy multiple priorities.
