American Life Financial Partners, LLC seeks a highly analytical and hands-on Investment & Reinsurance Accounting Manager to lead accounting functions across investment and reinsurance operations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting regulatory compliance, and providing leadership to a growing team while driving operational efficiency and process improvement.

Summary/Objective

The Investment & Reinsurance Accounting Manager oversees accounting activities related to the organization’s investment portfolio and reinsurance operations. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP and statutory requirements, and maintenance of strong internal controls. The position manages a small team (initially two direct reports) and supports cross-functional collaboration to improve processes and deliver timely, reliable financial information.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee accounting and reporting for investment and reinsurance transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and statutory requirements.
  • Review reconciliations of investment portfolios, cash flows, and general ledger accounts; investigate and resolve variances.
  • Manage and review financial reporting, including quarterly and annual statements, disclosures, and supporting schedules.
  • Collaborate with investment, finance, and operations teams to align accounting practices with business strategy.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Lead audit support activities, including preparation of workpapers and coordination with external auditors.
  • Analyze investment performance, reinsurance activity, and related financial data to support decision-making.
  • Oversee valuation processes and ensure proper accounting treatment for complex investments and reinsurance arrangements.
  • Drive process improvements, automation opportunities, and operational efficiencies within accounting workflows.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a small team of accounting professionals, with responsibility for performance management and growth.
  • Participate in special projects, ad hoc analysis, and strategic initiatives as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including investment and/or reinsurance accounting.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
