Lead Housekeeper-Mount Sinai Morningside

Assist shift supervisors and department directors in the day-to-day function of the department. Maintain high level of quality in all aspects of the department’s duties, supporting supervisors and interacting with department team members. Ensure that all schedules are and completed daily. Set a positive example for department through professional interactions with team members, customers, patient and families. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or director. Actively participate in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Contribute to the team efforts and showing good customer interactions, and professionalism for customers, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact with.

 


Responsibilities

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of department policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates knowledge and efficient use of cleaning techniques, solutions, equipment and tools.
  • Performs all cleaning, floor care and project assignments within area of responsibility or as directed by supervisor.
  • Performs related services, such as bed moves, changing mattresses, stocking supplies, etc.
  • Maintains high standards; works steadily at efficient pace; achieves high QA score.
  • Interacts hospitably, cheerfully and supportively with staff, patients, visitors and work colleagues
  • Maintains equipment, tools and storage areas in clean, orderly and good operating condition.  Respects Hospital and Company property.
  • Responds rapidly and thoroughly to emergencies, special needs, spills, etc.
  • Accepts suggestions and direction from supervisors and Hospital staff.
  • Honors department’s attendance, break, behavior, dress and safety codes.
  • Accepts and absorbs Department and Hospital education program.
  • Exercises good judgment while working around patients and visitors.  Remains professional at all times.
  • Takes initiative in rendering service or responding to needs.
  • Assists other associates as necessary.  Responds to direction as provided.
  • Answer telephones in a professional manner
  • Provides quality customer service to customers by providing one on one attention to the detail.
  • Resolves internal/external guest complaints, ensuring internal/external guest satisfaction.
  • Assists management in distribution of designated keys, rovers, tablets, and pagers to assigned staff.  Maintains accurate record of such and ensure security of keys and all other devices .
  • Communicates additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
  • Inspects areas to confirm cleaning standards have been met. 
  • Assists staff with their job functions where needed to ensure optimum cleanliness and service standards for guests.
  • Assists management in orienting and assisting newer staff into department
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Competencies

  • Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills:  Ability to perform simple arithmetic including weights and measures.  Ability to add, subtract , multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Other Qualifications: Demonstrate safe and correct use of environmental services equipment and chemicals used daily within the department.
  • Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.  The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

     

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and previous experience required 

Computer Skills:

  • Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of office software packages
     

General Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to work well under time constraints.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare infection control procedures and universal precautions.
  • Pulls and/or pushes objects in excess of 100 pounds frequently navigating congested, sometimes sloping hallways or area

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $25.4287 - $27.3285 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
