Role Summary:Ā The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will work with clientsĀ in order toĀ help them deal with issues involvingĀ mentalĀ and emotional health, which might include alcohol and substance abuse issues. In the context of mental health counseling, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker can haveĀ a huge impactĀ on the individualĀ during the course ofĀ their treatment.


Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties:Ā 

TheĀ Licensed Clinical Social WorkerĀ is responsible for, but not limited to: 

  • Providing emotional and mental health counseling to groups or individuals
  • Building strong rapport with clients and makingĀ accurateĀ assessments of their problems whether mental/emotional or physical in the case of substance abuse
  • Responsible for assessing clients and completing comprehensive psychological evaluations for the submission of clients housing packages
  • Keeping detailed and concise records of each clientĀ during the course ofĀ their treatment
  • Provide effective treatment planning andĀ assistingĀ clients in successfully achieving goals.
  • Evaluate crisis situations and applyĀ appropriate interventions.
  • AssistĀ in the detection of ā€œat riskā€ clients and development of plans to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration.
  • Provide consultation, and brief intervention for psychological/psychiatric problems and/or disorders
  • ActivelyĀ participateĀ in meetings that support the integrated health care model to provide comprehensive care for clients
  • Monitor the site’s behavioral health program,Ā identifyingĀ problems relatedĀ toĀ clientĀ servicesĀ andĀ makingĀ recommendations for improvement.
  • Develops andĀ maintainsĀ liaison relationships with community resources as able, specifically other behavioral health and substance abuse agencies
  • Work toĀ establishĀ collaborative services and to lessen duplication of care.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of special projects and/or pilot programsĀ 
  • Interpret Center behavioral health policies and procedures to providers, institutions, agencies, recipients, and other concerned individuals.
  • Participate fully in Behavioral Health departmental meetings and other agency meetings as warrantedĀ 
  • AssistĀ in behavioral health departmental tasks, including programmatic and infrastructure design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Act as an administrator within a Social Services organization
  • Certified to supervise students in the field of Social Work atĀ different levelsĀ of education,Ā undergraduateĀ and graduate
  • Ability to provide supervision and oversee a wide range of staff activities including all-inclusive documentation such as psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnosis,Ā counselingĀ and crisis intervention in an environment that requires a high degree of independent decision making.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, and bend over.Ā 
  • Ability to lift, reach, and handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds.Ā 
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.Ā 
  • Ability to travel toĀ different locationsĀ within New York City, as needed.


Work Environment / ScheduleĀ Requirements:

  • This is a full-time, exempt position. While standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, exempt employees are expected toĀ workĀ the hours necessary to effectively fulfill their job responsibilities, and based on organizational needs, deadlines, or events.Ā Ā 
  • Staff must continue working past their shift unless relieved by another staff member or authorized to leave by a supervisor.

Qualifications:Ā 

  • Masters in Social Work
  • Licensed in NYS as a Clinical Social Worker in good standing
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to be compassionate and firm andĀ maintainingĀ confidentiality at all times
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to solve problems, make decisions, resolveĀ conflictsĀ and listen
  • Ability to deal calmly in crisis situations.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively well with diverse groups
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks effectively under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and efficient
  • Maturity, integrity, and sound judgment
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English for administrative purposes.
  • Must pass drug screening to be appointed.
  • This position may be subject to a series of investigations before and after appointment.
