Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

To be successful as a Liquid Financing Data/AI Engineer – VP, you should have:

  • Considerable engineering background in Python and/or Java, with proficiency in both preferred, and the ability to demonstrate deep expertise in one language with working competence in the other

  • Extensive experience with AWS, including services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, Step Functions, and IAM

  • Understanding of Kubernetes for deploying and operating containerized services in production environments

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical trade-offs clearly to both engineering peers and non-technical stakeholders

  • Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts and experience integrating AI capabilities such as LLM APIs, embeddings, and retrieval patterns into software applications

Other highly valued skills include:

  • Domain knowledge in Liquid Financing, including any, Prime Brokerage, Fixed Income Financing, Stock Borrow & Loan (SBL), or Custody business lines

  • Experience working directly with Quants and Strats — understanding their workflows, data requirements, and how technology supports quantitative and structuring functions

  • Familiarity with financial instruments, trade lifecycle, or risk systems in a front-office technology context

  • Experience with event-driven architectures, message streaming (e.g. Kafka/MSK), or real-time data processing pipelines

  • Exposure to DevSecOps practices and financial services regulatory or compliance technology requirements

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

Minimum Salary: $170,000
Maximum Salary: $230,000
