About The Position

 Experienced Family Practice Physician Assistant needed for a 20-day locum tenens assignment at a Hospital in New York. Starting 08/04/2025, this position requires coverage Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. The PA will primarily manage acute cases such as cold, cough, and flu, as well as conduct routine visits, physicals, and manage chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension. This single-provider practice sees scheduled patients only, with appointment lengths varying from 15 to 45 minutes. The PA will work alongside a nurse and medical assistant, with occasional physician presence. Experience with Nexplanon insertion and X-waiver certification are beneficial but not required. The role involves using Epic EHR system for patient documentation.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide primary care for acute and chronic conditions

• Conduct routine physical examinations and health screenings

• Diagnose and treat common illnesses such as cold, cough, and flu

• Manage chronic conditions including diabetes and hypertension

• Perform patient assessments and develop treatment plans

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests

• Prescribe medications as appropriate

• Maintain accurate and timely patient records using Epic EHR

• Collaborate with nursing staff and medical assistants

• Educate patients on preventive care and health maintenance

• Adhere to all hospital policies and family practice protocols

• Manage time effectively to see patients on 15, 30, or 45-minute schedules

Additional Information:

• Must be licensed as a Physician Assistant in New York

• Experience with Epic EHR preferred

• Nexplanon insertion skills and X-waiver certification beneficial but not required

• Ability to work independently in a single-provider setting

• Strong communication and time management skills essential

• Flexibility for potential assignment extension
