Responsibilities

- Maintain scheduled mopping, buffing, stripping and waxing of VCT floors as directed
- Change lights/bulbs on 2x2 and 2x4 fixtures as well as exit sign bulbs
- Clean and set up conference/break rooms, classrooms, break rooms, etc. for events when scheduled
- Operate all custodial equipment safely
- Empty all trash receptacles and confidential bins
- Clean and sanitize the restroom fixtures, toilets, sinks, vanities, countertops, under the sink, door handles, doors, walls, etc. as directed
- Maintain and replenish all bathrooms and pantries, paper items and soap products & other items as directed
- Dust and polish furniture, doors, handles, light switches, telephones, etc. as needed
- Dust windows blinds and horizontal surfaces on a regular basis
- Vacuum carpeting and spot clean as needed
- Sweep and mop any tile or hard flooring (floor stripping, refinishing, sealing and/or waxing)
- Clean entrance glass on all floors and all interior office glass
- Clean kitchen /break room fixtures and appliances, counter tops, chairs, tables, door knobs / handles, white boards, convectors, etc.
- Dust air vents, returns, ceiling fixtures, baseboards and other flat surfaces on a regular basis
- Assist with department relocations of personnel (i.e. : cabinets, desks and chairs)
- Run errands to local locksmith, hardware store, laundry, etc.
- Maintain all closets and storage rooms (housekeeping, electrical, mechanical, etc.)
- Clean water fountains and water coolers
- Transport material and supplies to Union building across the street (union materials, clothes, documents, etc.
- Clean upholstery; seats, chairs, workstations, etc.
- Communicate with internal staff for completion of job requests.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management
- Work hours from 7:15am to 3:15pm

Qualifications
Â
- High School graduation or high school equivalency required
- Minimum (1) one-year experience in janitorial services
- Knowledge of methods, material and equipment used in custodial building trade
- Knowledge of safe practices - wearing proper protective eye wear (goggles), using earplugs, utilizing head gear when appropriate, etc.
- Knowledge of all restroom / damp mop procedures
- Practiced in and capable of using stared commercial cleaning projects
- Knowledge of safe work practices and in accordance with OSHA and blood pathogens requirements and regulations
- Ability to read, write and comprehend written and verbal instructions, short correspondences memos and emergency instructions.
- Must be mechanically inclined with the ability to operate all maintenance equipment - mops, vacuums, brooms, shredders, buffers, shampoo machinery, etc.
- Able to lift and transport up to fifty-one (51) pounds and work in restricted spaces and at heights in excess of 10 feet
- Able to use and/or be exposed to standard commercial cleaning products
- Must be detail–oriented and able to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to comprehend & apply safety procedures as they relate to SDS.
- Must be able to move independently and manipulate custodial equipment; must be able to use a ladder
