Job Description
The Manager, Public Relations position will manage and execute public relations activities for Columbia Threadneedle Investments in the U.S. The position reports to the Vice President of External Communications and is based in Boston or New York.Key Responsibilities:
The Manager, Public Relations position will be part of a three-person PR team led by the Vice President of External Communications. The individual will plan and execute U.S. public relations activities for Columbia Threadneedle Investments – a global asset manager that provides a broad range of investment solutions to both retail and institutional clients across all major asset classes, domestically and internationally. The successful candidate will have meaningful public relations experience, preferably from working in-house in the financial services industry or at a public relations agency that serves the industry.Â
Primary responsibilities include interacting with the media, including but not limited to creating and executing impactful pitches, responding to and managing interview requests, distributing market commentary and thought leadership content, creating and maintaining media lists and working with a retained PR agency.  The individual will assist with the preparation and distribution of press releases, Q&A documents and other materials for a variety of initiatives, including product launches, manager changes and other events. The individual will also have responsibility for media tracking, analysis and reporting and manage other initiatives, including industry recognition, polls and surveys.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
3-5 years of experience in public relations or corporate communications, preferably from working in financial services, at a public relations agency that serves the industry or in another complex, regulated industry
Experience working successfully with journalists who cover business, markets and/or investing
Excellent verbal communication skills
Strong editing, research, problem solving, project management and interpersonal skills
Ability to think creatively and independently about PR tactics
Strong attention to detail and a client-service mind-set
Ability to work well as part of an engaged, cross-organizational team
Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience with corporate social media
Experience with media monitoring and analytical software/tools
Experience measuring, reporting and analyzing media relations activities
The successful candidate will need to acquire a FINRA Series 7 License within 180 days of their start date, if they do not already have one. Support and resources are provided to prepare for the exam.
Preferred Qualifications
In-house or agency media relations experience
Familiarity with business and financial media at all levels:
broadcast, national media, wire services and trade publicationsFamiliarity with AI tools and related best practices for PR and search
Experience working for or with a large, public company
Experience working in a complex, regulated industry

Base Pay Salary
The estimated base salary for this role is $73,500 - $129,100/year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
