Surgical Scrub Tech / Medical Assistant | Facial Plastic Surgery (NYC)
We are a boutique practice devoted entirely to the face, is seeking an experienced Surgical Scrub Technician / Medical Assistant to support rhinoplasty and facial rejuvenation cases in our AAAASF-accredited in-office operating room. This is a dual role: scrubbing in on surgical days and assisting with clinical and medical assisting duties on non-surgical days.
This position requires hands-on operating room experience. Candidates without prior scrub tech experience will not be considered.
Responsibilities
Surgical days (scrub tech):
- Scrub in and assist the surgeon on facial and nasal cases (rhinoplasty, facelift, and related procedures)
- Set up, maintain, and break down the sterile field and back table
- Anticipate the surgeon's needs and pass instruments efficiently throughout the case
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and patient safety standards at all times
Sterile processing / instrument care:
- Clean, decontaminate, inspect, package, and sterilize instruments in accordance with SPD protocols
- Operate and monitor the autoclave, including correct cycle selection, loading, and documentation
- Run and log biological and chemical indicators; maintain sterilization records for AAAASF compliance
- Organize, track, and maintain instrument trays and sets
Non-surgical days (medical assisting):
- Room patients, take and record vitals and history
- Prepare treatment and consultation rooms and assist during in-office procedures
- Manage stocking, supply inventory, and ordering
- Support general clinical workflow and front-of-house clinical needs as required
Requirements
- Documented experience as a surgical scrub technician (facial / plastic surgery experience strongly preferred)
- Working knowledge of SPD standards, sterile processing, and autoclave operation
- Familiarity with instrument washing, organization, and tray management
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique and OR safety
- Medical assisting experience and comfort with clinical duties
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work in a high-standard, low-volume boutique setting
