Phlebotomy Tech /EKG - Full Time

NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center is committed to care. Our Phlebotomy Technicians can enter a room and bring comfort, calm and compassion to our patients. Join our team in a fast-paced unit drawing blood for laboratory tests as requested by physicians in accordance with established procedures.

Essential Job Duties

  • Receives and greets patients for preparation on the Transmission Unit and Electrodiagnostic Center.

  • Prepares requisitions for the test menu as it appears from the computer terminal or advance orders.

  • Schedules patients' appointments and maintains logs of patients and procedures.

  • Draws blood specimen and collects urine specimen.

  • Performs EKGs and appropriately records results for Physicians' report.

  • Performs cashier functions as related to the department.

  • Orders and restocks supplies.

  • Maintains department's records and statistics.

  • Records and obtains reports and/or results from computer terminal.

  • Assists in the training of new staff.

  • Is competent to care for patients based upon the age groups treated.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

  • Complies with all policies and standards

Shift: Full-time, 330p-12a, EOW, rotating holidays

Requirements:
Work Experience

  • Experience in drawing blood required


Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required


Licenses and Certifications

  • Certification from a recognized Electrocardiology Program or two years EKG training

Salary Range:

$33.66/Hourly
