Position Summary

Northside Charter High School seeks an energetic and dedicated Physical Education (PE) Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. The ideal candidate will promote physical fitness, health education, and teamwork while creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students to develop lifelong healthy habits. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative educational environment that values physical wellness as a vital part of student development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in physical education, including fitness, sports, and health education.

  • Skill Development: Help students develop motor skills, coordination, teamwork, and an understanding of the principles of physical fitness and health.

  • Student Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that motivates all students to participate actively in physical activities.

  • Health and Wellness Education: Incorporate lessons on nutrition, mental health, and the benefits of an active lifestyle into the curriculum.

  • Safety Management: Ensure that all activities and equipment meet safety standards and that students are supervised and guided appropriately during physical activities.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Evaluate student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust instruction to meet individual fitness levels and needs.

  • Classroom Management: Maintain an organized, respectful, and positive learning environment in both indoor and outdoor settings.

  • Collaboration: Work with colleagues to align curriculum, share resources, and contribute to school-wide wellness initiatives.

  • Parent Communication: Maintain open and proactive communication with parents and guardians about student progress and wellness activities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.

  • Valid teaching certification for physical education (or ability to obtain certification before the start date).

  • Knowledge of fitness, health, and wellness education practices.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.

  • Experience coaching school sports teams or organizing extracurricular fitness programs.

  • Familiarity with integrating technology (e.g., fitness trackers, apps) into physical education.
