Position Summary
Northside Charter High School seeks a motivated and highly organized Physical Science Teacher for the 2026–2027 academic year. The ideal candidate will deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction rooted in the NGSS and NYSED Regents framework, engage students through inquiry-based and hands-on learning, and demonstrate strong capacity to plan, deliver, and track Regents-aligned laboratory investigations.
This position may include teaching Chemistry, Physics, and/or Regent Earth & Space Science, depending on school needs.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver NGSS- and NYSED Regents-aligned instruction in assigned physical science courses.
Plan, implement, and assess Earth & Space Science Regents laboratory investigations, ensuring full compliance with NYSED requirements.
Design, deliver, and document laboratory instruction (including hands-on lab investigations) that prepares students for Regents eligibility.
Accurately track, update, and analyze required laboratory minutes and maintain organized lab documentation.
Develop, update, and share weekly lesson plans in accordance with school expectations and instructional timelines.
Utilize data from formative and summative assessments to inform instruction and support student growth.
Implement differentiation, scaffolds, and accommodations to support diverse learners, including MLL students and students with an IEP..
Maintain an organized and up-to-date gradebook in alignment with school expectations.
Collaborate with science department colleagues and administration to support curriculum alignment and Regents preparation.
Maintain consistent, proactive weekly communication with caregivers regarding student progress, attendance, behavior, and academic expectations.
Required Qualifications
NYS Certification in a Science discipline (or in progress).
Strong knowledge of NGSS and NYSED Regents standards.
Experience delivering hands-on, inquiry-based science instruction.
Strong organizational skills, particularly related to lab tracking and compliance.
Highly Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience delivering NYSED Regents Earth & Space Science laboratory investigations, including required state labs.
Strong knowledge and experience with the New Visions Earth & Space Science curriculum.
Proven ability to prepare students for Regents exams through aligned labs and assessments.
Competency in Powerschool as a Learning Management System to manage grades, attendance, and instructional data.
