Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial Senior Vice President (SVP), Portfolio Manager to join our Specialty Finance team. The successful candidate will play a leading role in sourcing, underwriting, executing, and managing private credit and asset-based finance investments across a broad range of specialty finance sectors, including consumer finance, commercial finance, equipment leasing, aviation, insurance-related assets, data infrastructure, portfolio acquisitions, and other esoteric asset classes.

The SVP will work closely with senior investment professionals, sector specialists, financing teams, asset management teams, analytics professionals, legal counsel, and investment committees to identify attractive investment opportunities while helping construct and manage diversified portfolios that achieve superior risk-adjusted returns.

Key Responsibilities
 

Investment Sourcing & Origination

  • Source and originate specialty finance investment opportunities through direct relationships with originators, financial institutions, sponsors, servicers, banks, and industry participants.

  • Develop and maintain a robust network of industry contacts to generate proprietary and differentiated deal flow.

  • Identify emerging market themes, relative value opportunities, and attractive sectors within asset-based finance.


Underwriting & Due Diligence

  • Lead detailed underwriting of investment opportunities across multiple specialty finance asset classes.

  • Perform fundamental credit analysis, collateral analysis, cash flow modeling, scenario analysis, and structuring evaluations.

  • Evaluate transaction economics, downside protection, legal structures, and servicing frameworks.

  • Coordinate diligence efforts across legal, tax, accounting, financing, risk, and operational teams.


Portfolio Construction & Risk Management

  • Assist in portfolio construction across funds, SMAs, and commingled vehicles.

  • Evaluate investments within the context of broader portfolio objectives, risk limits, concentration constraints, and liquidity considerations.

  • Monitor macroeconomic developments and assess implications for portfolio positioning.

  • Identify and manage portfolio risks proactively.


Transaction Execution

  • Negotiate transaction documentation, financing arrangements, and commercial terms.

  • Manage investment closing processes in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Present investment recommendations to internal investment committees and senior leadership.


Asset Management & Portfolio Monitoring

  • Partner with the dedicated asset management team on ongoing management of portfolio investments.

  • Monitor collateral performance, servicing activity, covenant compliance, and operating metrics.

  • Work closely with servicers, operators, and counterparties to maximize value and identify potential risks.

  • Develop strategic recommendations to enhance portfolio performance and mitigate losses.


Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor and develop junior investment professionals, analysts, and associates.

  • Lead sector-specific initiatives and contribute to expanding the platform’s expertise in targeted verticals.

  • Foster collaboration across investment, financing, analytics, asset management, and operations teams.


Client & Business Development Support

  • Support fundraising, investor due diligence, and client relationship efforts.

  • Participate in preparation of marketing materials, portfolio reviews, and investor presentations.

  • Represent the platform with investors, advisors, and market participants as appropriate.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in specialty finance, structured credit, private credit, asset-based lending, ABS, consumer finance, corporate credit, investment banking, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated experience sourcing and executing complex credit investments.

  • Strong track record of underwriting and managing specialty finance assets.

  • Experience presenting investment recommendations to senior investment committees.

  • Advanced financial modeling and credit analysis skills.

  • Deep understanding of structured finance, securitization, and asset-based lending structures.

  • Strong knowledge of portfolio construction and risk management.

  • Ability to evaluate complex collateral pools and servicing platforms.

  • Commercially minded and entrepreneurial.

  • Strong investment judgment and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation capabilities.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

  • High degree of integrity, accountability, and intellectual curiosity.

PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.


Salary Range: $ 265,000.00 - $ 305,000.00
