Procedural Coordinator – Plastic Surgery – Department of Surgery - Days
- Responsible for front-end revenue cycle processes which may include but is not limited to collection/reconciliation of time-of-service payments. May also discuss patient’s responsibility for payments.
- Ensures that patients provide any pre-visit documentation, pre-certifications, or authorizations for medical services as needed, and/or referral, if required.
- Schedules, confirms, re-schedules, and cancels appointments for both new and existing patients using Epic. Monitors schedules for waitlists, re-schedules, and cancellations.
- Assist with coordination of follow-up care including scheduling of laboratory/diagnostic tests and prescription requests.
- Maintains physicians’ administrative and clinical/surgical schedules.
- Surgical scheduling and coordination based on operating room availability.
- Obtaining, submitting, and tracking surgical prior authorizations if submitted within 72 hours of scheduling.
- Ensuring the required pre-operative testing and medical clearances are completed prior to surgery.
- Scheduling and coordinating post-operative follow-up appointments.
- Facilitating communication between patients, providers, surgical facilities, and ancillary departments.
This is a full-time day shift position predominately working between Mondays – Fridays from 9:00AM - 5:00PM. This position is located at the NYP/Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
Required Criteria
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of surgical scheduling experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
