The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with experience in workers' compensation plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care, offering advanced nursing services in coordination with physicians and registered nurses.


Must be able to be in office 1x per week at one of our locations. We have offices in Long Island, Brooklyn, The Bronx, White Plains, and Manhattan.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments with a focus on work-related injuries, functional limitations, and treatment needs within the workers' compensation framework.
  • Develop and implement care plans that align with medical necessity requirements and workers' compensation treatment guidelines to support recovery and return to work.
  • Administer medications and provide patient education specific to pain management, injury recovery, and medication safety, ensuring compliance with workers' compensation protocols.
  • Collaborate with case managers, employers, and insurance representatives to facilitate treatment authorization, progress updates, and return-to-work planning.
  • Review workers' compensation reports, diagnostic results, and independent medical evaluations (IMEs) to address any medical concerns and integrate findings into the service plan.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation for workers' compensation claims, including progress notes, functional assessments, and medication management records.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations regarding medication management, treatment protocols, and disability determinations within the workers' compensation system.
  • Provide medication counseling tailored to individuals managing pain, mental health concerns, and potential drug interactions, particularly those under long-term disability or rehabilitation programs.
  • Educate patients on safe medication use, return-to-work expectations, and injury prevention strategies to promote long-term wellness and work readiness.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Active and unrestricted APRN licensure in the state of New York.
  • PMHNP Certification
  • Minimum of two years post-certification experience.
  • Required to have both a valid and unrestricted CDS; DEA in the State of New York.
  • Experience providing care to the Worker's Compensation population.
