Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services organization that serves the Episcopal Church, located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing. 

The Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible and accountable for the assigned testing activities across the projects, production support and enhancements.  Responsible for supporting the projects including: development of the test cases, test scenarios, test execution, results analysis, and escalation of identified issues/questions.

The QA Analyst will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate IT processes through detailed testing to maximize the benefit of business investments in IT initiatives. This is a technical role that requires knowledge of the end user applications, databases, technical aspects and testing methodologies. The success of this role is dependent upon the candidate’s ability to understand and apply the best industry practices and align that with the practical needs of individual IT and business projects. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Effective performance of the essential functions of this position requires regular in-person, on-site interaction with colleagues, both for purposes of relationship building and meaningful collaboration
  • Support and contribute to the development of the Test Plan and Test Strategy for the assigned projects, enhancements, and production support
  • Develop detailed test scenarios based on the Acceptance Criteria and /or feedback from Business Partners
  • Develop, document, and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts including test data, data validation, and automated scripts
  • Support various domains developed and maintained by CPG including API, ETL, Web
  • Support transactional systems such as Oracle Financials, Alfresco, Documaker
  • Perform security testing as part of the QA testing cycle 
  • In collaboration with cross functional teams incorporate automated unit tests as part of the regression test bed
  • Work with cross functional teams to complete the root cause analysis and corrective actions plans to ensure higher test coverage throughout the development and UAT cycles
  • Promote QA standards and best practices across functional teams
  • Attend and contribute to Scrum events: daily standups, backlog refinement meetings, Sprint demo and Sprint planning
  • Maintain the test environment strategy to ensure the environments are ‘test-ready’ for the integration testing Participate and provide feedback in the Lessons Learned meetings
  • Collect quality metrics, perform trend analysis
  • Actively identify and participate in training, education, and development activities to improve own knowledge and performance to sustain and enhance professional development

  • Strong understanding of the Scrum, Waterfall and hybrid model
  • Strong background in functional, integration and regression testing for enterprise applications following waterfall and/or agile methodology
  • Strong business communications, facilitation/elicitation, listening, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively with project stakeholders, external vendors, and project team members.
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to work effectively with business personnel at all levels with outside vendors and contractors
  • Advanced proficiency in executing test strategies/plans/cases from business and functional requirements
  • Intermediate level SQL skills
  • Understanding of ETL, API, Web technologies and their components
  • Working knowledge of software and tools including MS Office Products, ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence, Monday.com, TestRail and BI reports
  • Familiarity with automated testing tools and scripting techniques
  • Hands-on experience with programmatic test automation coding and automated testing framework design is a plus

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BA/BS degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other related fields is preferred. Combination of education and experience considered.
  • 5+ years’ QA experience testing multi-tiered software applications required
  • Professional certification, such as CSTE or CSQA is preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Currently, hybrid work environment, which requires working in CPG’s office Tuesdays through Thursdays and flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Salary Range: $98,000 - $127,000
