Senior Account Manager, Performance Marketing

MVR Digital | Fully Remote | Full-time 1099 Contractor

About MVR Digital

MVR Digital is a performance marketing agency serving premium and luxury DTC and e-commerce brands. We run Meta, Google, TikTok, Connected TV, and email for clients who expect strategic partnership, not order-taking. Adweek recognized us as one of the Fastest Growing Agencies. We are fully remote with hubs in NYC, Chicago, and Denver.

About the Role

You will own client relationships from strategy to execution for 1 to 3 major accounts. Fewer accounts, deeper ownership. You lead weekly performance calls, develop cross-channel media strategies, analyze data across platforms, and make recommendations that directly impact seven-figure marketing budgets.

This role sits between strategy and execution. You develop the plans, analyze the results, coordinate the team, and own the client relationship. You think like a strategist, communicate like a consultant, and execute like an operator.

Our clients are sophisticated. They ask why CPAs spiked, whether attribution data is reliable, how PMax is actually structured, and what our stance is on branded spend. You need answers grounded in analysis, not talking points that sound good.

The Google Fluency Bar

This is the distinguishing requirement for the role. You are not a Google specialist and you will not own campaign builds, bid strategy overhauls, or technical tracking implementation. Our media buyers own that work. What you do own is client-facing Google credibility.

Specifically, you can:

  • Walk a client through what the Google buyer did last week and explain why it matters to their business.
  • Read a Performance Max structure and identify surface-level issues (asset group logic, audience signals, feed health, branded contamination).
  • Hold your own on branded spend strategy: when it makes sense, when it inflates ROAS, and how to have that conversation with a founder who wants to see the branded number stay high.
  • Diagnose common Shopify feed and Merchant Center issues well enough to know whether it is a buyer problem, a dev problem, or a platform problem.
  • Explain the difference between Search, Shopping, PMax, and Demand Gen in plain language, and know when each fits the client's business.
  • Read GA4 and Looker Studio reports critically. Spot when attribution windows, conversion lag, or platform reporting differences are creating a false signal.
  • Talk through MER, blended CAC, and incrementality without hiding behind platform ROAS.

You do not need to be able to rebuild account structures or set up conversion tracking from scratch. You do need to be the person clients trust to translate what our specialists are doing and why.

Cross-Channel Fluency

Google is the depth requirement. You also need working knowledge of Meta and TikTok strong enough to lead a client conversation about performance across the full stack. If a client asks about ASC scaling on Meta or Spark Ads on TikTok, you can hold the room without pulling in a specialist for every question. You know enough to know when you do need to pull one in.

What You Will Do

Strategic Ownership

  • Develop cross-channel strategies across Meta, Google, TikTok, CTV, and email that connect to business goals.
  • Make budget allocation recommendations based on attribution analysis and conversion data.
  • Identify when performance issues signal real problems versus normal variance.
  • Proactively flag when performance is off and bring solutions, not just problems.
  • Challenge client assumptions when data points to a better approach.

Client Leadership

  • Run weekly calls with founders, CMOs, and marketing directors who expect strategic partnership.
  • Translate messy attribution data into clear business insights clients can act on.
  • Navigate difficult conversations about underperformance, budget reallocation, or flawed test setups.
  • Reframe problems when the initial framing will not answer the actual question.
  • Build trust through consistent strategic value, not just smooth relationship management.

Performance Analysis

  • Monitor cross-channel performance and spot optimization opportunities before they become emergencies.
  • Understand how attribution windows, conversion lag, and platform reporting differences affect what you are seeing.
  • Calibrate technical depth based on what clients need to make decisions, not what sounds impressive.
  • Connect marketing performance to business outcomes: revenue, CAC payback, LTV.
  • Be honest about data limitations and confidence levels instead of overselling marginal results.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work with media buyers to translate strategy into implementation.
  • Partner with the creative team on testing roadmaps and asset development.
  • Manage project timelines across creative production, web development, and campaign launches.
  • Align agency operations to client business direction.
  • Keep multiple priorities moving without things falling through the cracks.

What You Need

  • 5+ years managing performance marketing campaigns or client accounts with strategic responsibility.
  • Direct hands-on experience with Google Ads (Search, Shopping, Performance Max, Demand Gen) at a level that lets you speak to structure, strategy, and diagnostics, not just report on it.
  • Working knowledge of Meta Ads and TikTok Ads deep enough to lead client conversations across all three channels.
  • Fluency in GA4, Looker Studio, and cross-channel attribution. You can read a report critically and spot when something is off.
  • Experience with accounts spending $100K+ monthly, or equivalent complexity in budget management.
  • Agency background strongly preferred. If in-house, you have worked directly with external partners or exec-level stakeholders in a strategic capacity.
  • Proven ability to navigate difficult conversations and maintain trust when delivering hard truths.
  • DTC or e-commerce experience required. Premium or luxury vertical strongly preferred.
  • Comfortable in remote, async environments with distributed teams.

What Success Looks Like

First 60 days: You are running client calls independently with solid analysis and actionable recommendations. Clients trust your judgment. Your Google fluency is evident from your first QBR.

Six months: You are spotting growth opportunities clients did not see, managing complex projects without dropping balls, and teaching clients how to think about their Google investment differently.

One year: You are contributing to how the agency operates and your clients renew because of the specific strategic value you provide.

Compensation and Structure

Full-time 1099 contractor. $7000-$9000 USD/month based on experience, plus bonus opportunities tied to client outcomes and ownership behaviors.

Benefits: Paid time off, paid holidays, professional development support. Fully remote.

Why This Role Is Different

Most senior AM roles are coordination work with a strategic title. This role gives you actual strategic ownership over 1 to 3 accounts. You will work with clients who ask hard questions and expect thoughtful answers grounded in analysis.

You will be challenged to defend your recommendations with data and own outcomes when things do not work. You will have the autonomy to solve problems without layers of approval or internal politics.

We are building an agency where senior people do meaningful work without performative nonsense. If that is what you are looking for, this might be a good fit.
