Your new role
The Senior Associate, Enterprise Risk supports the Principal, Group Risk, Americas with enterprise and operational risk, and compliance matters for AustralianSuper’s US business.
This role is to support the Principal in providing advice, oversight and challenge on enterprise and operational risk management practices, and compliance matters across AustralianSuper’s US business, including working closely with First Line Risk colleagues to ensure risk is managed in line with the Board-approved risk appetite.
Key to this role will be the implementation, embedment and ongoing improvement of the business’s revised risk management framework.
Please note, this is a 12-month full-time contract position.Â
This is a position based on-site at 1251 Avenues of the Americas, with a hybrid work schedule.Â

Key Responsibilities
Risk Management Framework
- Support the embedding of the uplifted risk management framework, including:
- participation in the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process;
- input into design and implementation of new reporting templates;
- implementation of new control library and control review standards;
- contribution to continued improvement of the risk management framework, including review of risk appetite statements, key risk indicators, and supporting risk management policies and standards.

Risk and Compliance Oversight
- Provide independent, specialist Second Line Risk & Compliance support through oversight and challenge of First Line activities including:
- leading the Second Line control testing programme for the US Operations, including planning, execution and stakeholder engagement;
- advising the business where actions are required to enhance processes, procedures, practices and controls to ensure the risks are appropriately managed.

Incident management
- Lead incident management oversight including trend analysis and reporting, including driving process improvements and embedding better practices across the incident lifecycle.Â

Obligations management
- Assist the Principal in assessing updates to the business’s regulatory compliance obligations, ensuring these are supported by appropriate controls, policies and compliance arrangements.

Management Reporting
- Input into key governance reporting, including for the AustralianSuper US Board, International Compliance and Risk Council, and other senior forums and committees as required.

Other
- Assist Internal Audit to ensure the scope of proposed reviews is appropriate and assist with review coordination as appropriate.Â
- Supporting the wider Risk & Compliance team and undertake ad hoc projects as required.

- Foster a professional, collaborative and solutions-focused environment within the Group Risk & Compliance function, supporting high standards of delivery and stakeholder engagement.
- Promote and role model a sound Risk culture across the business.

Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain effective relationships across all levels of the US business, supporting strong governance, risk and regulatory awareness.
- Collaborate with stakeholders globally to ensure alignment on compliance frameworks and regulatory expectations.
- Engage with external peers and industry networks to support the adoption of best practice in compliance.

Essential
- Experience (5+ years) in risk management and assurance, preferably gained in Financial Services or consulting.Â
- Sound understanding of control design and operating effectiveness.Â
- Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical and investigative skills.
- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to respectfully challenge, deal with conflict and stand their ground, where required.
- Solid stakeholder engagement skills that reflect a professional, collegiate, and engaging approach.
- A clear growth mindset.
- Proven ability to lead and influence senior stakeholders.Â
- Â Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Hold an accreditation in Risk Management from a recognised body or be willing to obtain one after joining AustralianSuper. 
- An understanding of prudential or markets regulations with respect to risk management and investment governance in US/ Australia would be ideal.

- Educated to university degree level or equivalent.
- Strong MS office suite skills.
- Risk accreditation (such as FRM, PRM or CISI - Level 6 Diploma).

Pay transparency notice
The compensation range for this position is $150,000 to $170,000 (this is based on full-time hours, located in New York City). The pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience and refers to the amount AustralianSuper is willing to pay at the time of posting.
