The Staff Pad is proud to partner with a leading warehousing and logistics organization to find an experienced Human Resources Business Partner for their Brooklyn, NY location.

Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, this is an exciting leadership opportunity for a strategic HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about driving people strategy, operational excellence, and compliance across a growing regional workforce.

What You’ll Do

The Human Resources Business Partner is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, operational excellence, and compliance of all HR and payroll functions across the East Coast region.

Based in Brooklyn, this position partners closely with executive leadership to align people strategies with business objectives while ensuring a consistent, compliant, and exceptional employee experience across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute regional HR strategies aligned with business goals
  • Partner with executive leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, culture, and risk management
  • Establish consistent HR standards, governance, and operating practices across the region
  • Ensure scalable, compliant HR programs across multiple jurisdictions

HR Operations & Employee Relations

  • Coach and support branch managers on HR matters
  • Oversee employee relations, investigations, performance management, and corrective actions
  • Ensure consistent application of policies and disciplinary practices
  • Prepare, document and recommend disciplinary actions, including terminations, with VP approval
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex employee matters

Payroll & Compliance

  • Oversee payroll accuracy, governance, and compliance across the region
  • Partner with payroll leadership on audits, controls, and reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Support litigation, investigations, and employment-related claims with HR leadership and external counsel

Compensation, Systems & Reporting

  • Oversee compensation, benefits, and performance management programs
  • Maintain HRIS and payroll system integrity and reporting
  • Analyze workforce metrics to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Deliver executive-level reporting on workforce data, compliance, and labor costs

Leadership & Culture

  • Foster a professional, service-focused, and compliant workplace culture
  • Support leadership development and succession planning
  • Equip managers with the tools and training to lead effectively and consistently

What We Are Looking For

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience within a complex organization
  • Experience overseeing payroll in partnership with Finance or external providers
  • Experience supporting logistics, transportation, warehousing, moving, or other operationally driven industries preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law, wage and hour regulations, and compliance
  • Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution
  • Advanced experience with HRIS and payroll systems
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of judgment, discretion, and executive presence

Physical Requirements
