About Stepful:

Stepful is a workforce platform redefining how America's largest health systems build, train, and retain their talent. Since our founding in 2021, Stepful’s trained over 32,000 practice-ready healthcare workers.

Layering onto our successful direct-to-consumer training, Stepful partners with leading healthcare institutions to address the growing national shortage of healthcare workers. We’re improving access to quality healthcare for everyone, everywhere, and improving access to healthcare career ladders for those who need them most.

Our students form the talent pipelines for major employers such as NY-Presbyterian, Mt. Sinai, HCA, Providence, CVS, and Walgreens. We have partnerships with half of the top 10 health systems in the US and are in process with many more.

Stepful is backed by Y Combinator, Reach Capital, and AlleyCorp, with a recent $55M Series C led by Oak HC/FT. We were named the #1 EdTech company in the U.S. by TIME for 2025.

Our values:

We credit much of our success to our exceptional team. We’re looking for mission-driven builders who thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, and embody our four core values:

  • Care first: We do whatever it takes for our students to succeed.

  • Learn quickly: We test, learn with data, and iterate.

  • Build together: We win when we rely on each other.

  • Own it: We show up, take initiative, and show pride.

The opportunity:

Stepful is hiring a Senior Manager, Instructor Community & Excellence to own the teaching excellence bar and instructor experience across our growing network of faculty delivering Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Tech, Patient Care Tech, and associated entry-level healthcare certificate programs.

As we scale programs, the quality and consistency of instruction is one of the most important levers we have — and this role owns it. You'll build the systems, coaching infrastructure, and community that motivates our instructors and develop the self-serve tools that help them see and own their classroom impact.

You'll report to the Director of Program Operations and work closely with the Learning, Coaching Operations, and Product teams. This role is hybrid in NYC (in-office T/W/Th).

You will lead a small but high-impact team: 2–3 Instructor Quality Managers will report directly to you. You will also serve as the organizational lead for Stepful's faculty network, who are the front line of our student experience.

What you'll do:

Instructor Community and Excellence

  • Define what great instruction looks like at Stepful across entry level certificate programs, and build coaching rubrics and cadences that help instructors embody that standard.

  • Build and motivate a thriving community of Stepful instructors — creating spaces (virtual) where instructors connect, share best practices, and feel recognized for their impact on students.

  • Develop self-serve tools and dashboards that give instructors real-time visibility into their classroom impact — pass rates, student engagement, cohort progress — so they can drive their own improvement.

  • Run recognition programs and feedback loops that motivate instructors to go above and beyond for students and to contribute innovation and improvement ideas back to the team.

Faculty Operations and Team Leadership

  • Manage 2–3 Instructor Quality Managers who support coaching, observation, and onboarding.

  • Maintain a real-time view of instructor health across the network - tracking tenure, performance trends, and risk - use that data to inform hiring, offboarding, and coverage decisions.

Translate Curriculum to Instructional Strategy

  • Partner with the curriculum team to ensure instructors are translating the latest content into effective classroom delivery — adapting correctly to cohort needs and flagging real-world gaps that should inform future curriculum updates.

  • Use student outcome data (pass rates, engagement, completion) as a quality signal — connecting instructor performance to learning outcomes and iterating to reduce variability across cohorts

  • Experiment with AI-enabled coaching and observation tools to improve feedback speed and consistency at scale.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Curriculum , Product teams on program modifications. Work with Growth teams on cohort scheduling.

  • Support new program launches in entry-level certificates.

What you'll bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in instructional quality, curriculum, or education operations

  • Experience managing a large team or network of contractors / adjunct teams

  • Background as a teacher, so you speak the language our instructors understand

  • Proven ability to build systems from scratch — observation rubrics, coaching workflows, performance tracking — and get others to actually use them.

  • Comfort operating independently in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment; you don't need a perfect playbook to take action.

  • Strong communication and coaching skills — you’re charismatic and comfortable leading large groups. You know how to deliver feedback in a way people can receive and act on.

Bonus points if:

  • Experience in healthcare education (allied health, clinical training, nursing, or similar).

  • Previous experience at an early-stage or Series A–C startup — you know how to build and iterate fast.

  • Fluency with LMS platforms and comfort using data to drive quality decisions.

Interview Process:

  • Introductory call with Talent Acquisition team member

  • Interview with Hiring Manager

  • Take-Home Assignment

  • Virtual Panel Interview

  • On-Site Panel Interview

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Meaningful Equity Stake

  • Subsidized Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plan options

  • 401(k)

  • FSA, HSA and commuter benefits

  • Learning stipend

  • Open vacation policy, including:

    • Guidance of 15 days PTO annually

    • Stepful closed the last week of December

    • 15 work-from-anywhere days

    • 10 public holidays observed for 2026

The target base salary range for this opportunity is $125,000 - $145,000, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including equity and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, internal pay equity and other relevant business considerations.
