Role PurposeÂ
The Senior Product Manager is responsible for customer‑ and market‑driven product leadership for one or more legal practice areas within the Legal Markets Group portfolio.Â
This role serves as a deep subject‑matter expert and market interpreter, translating customer needs, legal developments, and competitive dynamics into clear product and go‑to‑market direction. The Senior Product Manager partners closely with Editorial, with the Lead Product Manager responsible for the content roadmap, and with the other Product Managers to ensure that customer insight, content strategy, and commercial execution are tightly aligned.Â
While primarily practice‑area focused, the role may also contribute selectively to enterprise‑wide initiatives where deep legal or market expertise is required.Â

Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
Customer & Market Insight (Primary Focus)Â
Customer and market understanding is a core accountability of this role.Â
Act as the primary source of customer and market insight for assigned legal practice area(s).Â
Engage directly and regularly with:Â Â
Customers and prospectsÂ
Sales and account management teamsÂ
External practitioners, advisors, and industry bodiesÂ
Analyze legal, regulatory, and market trends to:Â Â
Anticipate emerging customer needsÂ
Identify implications for product direction and GTMÂ
Surface risks and opportunities earlyÂ
Synthesize insights into clear recommendations that inform: Â
Product priorities and roadmap discussionsÂ
Go‑to‑market messaging and positioningÂ
Portfolio and lifecycle reviews led by Product Management leadershipÂ
Â
Practice Area Product OwnershipÂ
Own the product direction and execution for assigned legal practice area(s), from discovery through ongoing optimization.Â
Serve as the product authority on legal workflows, customer jobs‑to‑be‑done, and use cases within the practice area.Â
Translate legal complexity into clear product requirements and customer‑oriented value narratives.Â

Go‑to‑Market Leadership (Practice‑Area Level)Â
Lead practice‑area‑specific GTM execution, including: Â
Use cases and workflow definitionÂ
Value proposition and positioning inputsÂ
Product and feature readiness for launchÂ
Partner with Product Marketing and Marketing teams to:Â Â
Review and validate marketing copy for legal accuracy and credibilityÂ
Ensure campaigns reflect real customer needs and legal workflowsÂ
Support Sales through:Â Â
Deal support on complex opportunitiesÂ
Participation in customer briefings, webinars, and industry eventsÂ
Competitive positioning guidance at the practice‑area levelÂ

Collaboration with Editorial & Lead Product ManagementÂ
Partner closely with Editorial leadership to: Â
Align product direction with content strategy and expertiseÂ
Ensure editorial strengths are translated into differentiated product valueÂ
Work in close coordination with the Lead Product Manager responsible for the content roadmap to: Â
Feed customer and market insight into roadmap prioritizationÂ
Align practice‑area needs with portfolio‑level decisionsÂ
Support coherent execution across content, technology, and GTMÂ
The Senior Product Manager does not own the content roadmap, but is accountable for ensuring it is customer‑ and market‑driven.Â

Commercial Performance & OptimizationÂ
Monitor practice‑area performance indicators such as: Â
Adoption and usageÂ
Retention and customer feedbackÂ
Revenue and pipeline signals (in partnership with Sales and Finance)Â
Identify opportunities to:Â Â
Improve positioning, packaging, and messagingÂ
Enable cross‑sell and upsell opportunitiesÂ
Address underperforming offeringsÂ
Provide insights and recommendations into pricing, packaging, and portfolio discussions (without owning pricing governanceÂ
Â
Qualifications & ExperienceÂ
JD or equivalent legal background strongly preferred; meaningful legal industry experience will also be considered.Â
7+ years of experience in product management, legal publishing, legal research, or professional information services.Â
Strong ability to work credibly with attorneys, legal departments, and legal associations.Â
Demonstrated customer‑facing and GTM experience.Â
Proven skill translating legal complexity into product and customer value.Â

Compensation:
$102,600.00 - $179,250.00 USDÂ
This role is eligible for Bonus.Compensation range listed is based on primary location of the position. Actual base salary offer is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience and actual hiring location.
