Job Description:
This job is responsible for supporting the development and execution of strategic initiatives and/or processes aligned to priorities within a functional area and/or business. Key responsibilities include defining, developing, executing, monitoring, and/or refining strategic initiatives and processes in close collaboration with key stakeholders and internal partners.
Reporting to the Head of Asset Manager Relationships within the Investment Solutions Group, the Senior Product Specialist will be the operations manager for Merrill's asset manager data program. The role is responsible for the product strategy, implementation, governance, and ongoing management of subscription-based data offerings that help asset managers leverage data-driven insights to support business development and decision-making.
This individual will partner across Investment Solutions Group, Technology, Operations, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Risk, while working directly with asset managers to drive adoption, gather feedback, enhance product capabilities, and support business growth. In addition to managing operations of the program, the role will help Identify opportunities to enhance reporting, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities through the use of data, automation, AI-enabled tools, and emerging technologies to improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate combines strong business acumen, analytical capabilities, and technical curiosity with exceptional organizational and execution skills. They are comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, building relationships across internal and external stakeholders, and leveraging modern analytics and AI-enabled tools to drive measurable business outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Builds and/or executes business initiatives and/or processes, while partnering with stakeholders and partners
- Solves complex problems and delivers on business initiatives and processes by applying subject matter expertise and technical knowledge of the business
- Engages with key stakeholders, partners, and business leadership to deliver on business objectives
- Performs analytics, assessments, and/or interpretation of data and/or information to identify business opportunities, derive insights, and measure outcomes
- Develops strategic and tactical plans to drive progress towards business goals and objectives
- Serves as the operations manager for the Asset Manager Data Program, leading strategy, implementation, and ongoing management to achieve strategic, financial, and operational objectives.
- Develops and executes the product roadmap, including enhancements to data offerings, analytics, reporting capabilities, and subscription packages.
- Partners directly with asset managers and senior relationship managers to drive adoption, strengthen engagement, gather feedback, and ensure alignment between product capabilities and asset manager needs.
- Develops and oversees onboarding, servicing, and support models to deliver a best-in-class experience for participating asset managers.
- Serves as the primary business owner for the third-party vendor relationship, overseeing service delivery, platform and control enhancements, entitlement controls, SLA performance, and issue resolution.
- Partners with Finance, Technology and Operations teams to implement and maintain data integrations, billing infrastructure, reporting capabilities, and operational support processes.
- Establishes and maintains governance frameworks covering data usage, data quality controls, access controls, contractual obligations, entitlements, and oversight routines.
- Collaborates with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Supervision, and Governance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory, contractual, and enterprise policy requirements, as well as to maintain SPIs, supervisory procedures, risk metrics, and governance forums.
- Manages the product P&L, including revenue forecasting, adoption metrics, expense management, vendor costs, and profitability analysis.
- Coordinates audits, risk assessments, implementation reviews, and governance activities to ensure the program operates effectively and within risk appetite.
- Drives continuous improvement through post-launch evaluations, business intelligence, and the use of data, automation, AI-enabled tools, and emerging technologies to enhance decision-making, operational efficiency, and program performance.

Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in financial services, wealth management, asset management, fintech, or a related industry.
- Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives involving senior stakeholders across Technology, Operations, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and business teams.
- Strong understanding of the asset management industry and wealth management business, including experience working directly with asset managers and external clients.
- Experience managing data products, analytics platforms, technology implementations, business intelligence solutions, or related strategic initiatives.
- Experience developing or managing risk, governance, supervisory, or control frameworks.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including advanced Excel capabilities and experience with reporting, data visualization, or business intelligence tools.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage data, analytics, automation, AI-enabled tools, and emerging technologies to drive business insights, operational efficiency, and business outcomes.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional organizational, project management, relationship management, and stakeholder influence skills, with a demonstrated ability to build partnerships and drive execution across internal and external stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses are not required but may be held permissively.
