About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, ambitious journalist to join the Daily Mail's US newsroom as a Senior Reporter, working on some of the biggest and most widely read news stories in the country.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of the company's rapidly growing subscription service, DailyMail+, the home of our most premium journalism.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high-impact exclusives and original, agenda-setting journalism. You will be comfortable covering crime, scandals, investigations, and major social issues while balancing fast-moving daily news with ambitious, longer-term investigations.

You will be expected to cultivate a deep network of sources, pursue original leads, conduct exceptional interviews, and produce compelling, accurate journalism under tight deadlines. The role also involves travel for major assignments.

About What You'll Do

  • Generate original, agenda-setting story ideas that resonate with Daily Mail readers.
  • Break high-impact exclusives across crime, scandals, investigations, social issues, and major national news.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of sources across multiple sectors.
  • Conduct interviews, research, and investigations to uncover original stories.
  • Balance fast-moving daily reporting with longer-term investigative projects.
  • Produce compelling, accurate, and legally sound copy to tight deadlines.
  • Monitor developing news, public records, court documents, social media, and other sources for emerging stories and leads.
  • Pursue ambitious targets and chase stories wherever they lead.
  • Work closely with editors, photographers, video teams, and other newsroom colleagues.
  • Travel for major assignments and breaking news as required.
  • Contribute to DailyMail+ premium journalism and other high-impact editorial projects.
  • Ensure all reporting meets the highest editorial, legal, and ethical standards.
  • Help drive the US news agenda through original reporting that generates conversation and engagement.

About You

The ideal candidate is an experienced, highly motivated journalist who thrives on competition and is driven to break stories before anyone else. You have excellent news judgment, a deep source network, and the confidence and persistence to pursue ambitious reporting.

You are comfortable working under pressure, juggling multiple priorities, and delivering exceptional journalism against tight deadlines. You understand what makes a story resonate with a large digital audience and have a strong understanding of the Daily Mail brand and its readership.

  • Minimum 5 years of journalism experience at a major news organization.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-impact exclusives and agenda-setting stories.
  • Exceptional newsgathering, interviewing, research, and writing skills.
  • Strong network of trusted sources and proven ability to develop new contacts.
  • Experience covering crime, scandals, investigations, major social issues, and breaking news.
  • Ability to balance fast-paced daily reporting with longer-term investigations.
  • Excellent news judgment and editorial instincts.
  • Ability to generate original story ideas and pursue ambitious reporting targets.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • Strong understanding of sourcing, verification, fact-checking, and media law.
  • Deep understanding of the Daily Mail brand, editorial voice, and audience.
  • Experience working in a 24-hour digital newsroom.
  • Willingness to travel for major reporting assignments.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts across the newsroom's operating hours.
