BNY is seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, Digital Asset Operations within the Digital Assets Business and Operations team. This role is based in NYC,NY.

Reporting to the Global Head of Digital Asset Operations, this role supports the execution of the APAC operating model for BNY’s digital asset business, ensuring effective processes, strong control discipline, regulatory compliance, and high-quality service delivery to institutional clients across the region.

The role will work closely with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Operations teams to implement scalable processes, maintain a strong control environment, and support business growth across APAC. The ideal candidate will bring a security-first mindset and a strong background in banking, finance, fintech, and/or digital assets, with practical knowledge of institutional digital asset custody, transaction processing, key management, wallets, network providers, and operational reporting.

 

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

 

Regional Operational Execution

  • Support execution of the APAC Digital Asset Operations model in line with global priorities.
  • Ensure consistent, controlled, and efficient delivery of operational services across the region.
  • Act as a key coordination point for day-to-day operational matters, service issues, and escalations within APAC.
  • Partner with regional and global stakeholders to support a resilient operating environment.

 

Operational Strategy and Implementation

  • Support operational priorities aligned with BNY’s goals for the Digital Asset Business.
  • Translate business objectives into practical operational plans and process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service delivery, scalability, and controls.
  • Contribute to the continued development of the APAC operating model.

 

Team Leadership

  • Lead and manage the APAC Digital Asset Operations team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities for team members.
  • Support team coverage, handoffs, and escalation practices.

 

Process, Risk, and Readiness

  • Support the design and optimization of processes related to digital asset transactions, custody, key management, cold signing, reconciliations, contingency, and client service.
  • Help ensure readiness for new products, clients, asset classes, and market expansion.
  • Maintain effective controls, reconciliations, escalation frameworks, and support models.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Control teams to support regulatory and policy adherence.
  • Support responses to audits, incidents, client queries, and regulatory requests.

 

Technology and Stakeholder Partnership

  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Technology teams to ensure workflows and tools are effective, secure, and scalable.
  • Provide operational input into platform changes, automation opportunities, and support processes.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support client satisfaction and business outcomes.

Performance and Reporting

  • Monitor and report on key performance, service, and risk indicators for APAC Digital Asset Operations.
  • Use reporting and operational data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Escalate issues and recommendations to the Global Head of Digital Asset Operations as appropriate.

 

Top Skills, Experiences and Expertise

 

Industry Knowledge

  • Good understanding of cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, and the digital asset landscape in an institutional financial services context.
  • Understanding of digital asset operating models, including custody, key management, wallet operations, settlement, and controls.
  • Awareness of APAC market practices and regulatory considerations is preferred.

 

Operational Excellence

  • Experience managing operations in a banking, fintech, or digital asset environment, with a focus on execution, controls, reconciliations, incident management, and service delivery.
  • Understanding of risk and control principles in a regulated environment.
  • Ability to identify operational inefficiencies, breaks, and control gaps.

 

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams or workstreams in a complex environment.
  • Strong partnership skills and ability to work across Product, Engineering, Technology, Compliance, Risk, Legal, Finance, and Operations.
  • Clear communication, sound judgment, and strong execution focus.

  • Ability to support operational initiatives aligned to business priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including use of data and metrics to support decision-making.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in operations management, preferably within a banking, fintech, or digital asset environment.
  • 2+ years of experience or demonstrated knowledge of blockchain technology and digital asset operations/management.
  • Experience managing operational processes in a regulated environment, with a focus on controls, reconciliations, risk awareness, and service delivery.
  • Prior team leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements in financial services and digital assets preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
