Reports to: Vice President of Compliance & Data Strategy 

Location: Manhattan, NY – Corporate Office (with regular site visits) 

Status & Hours: Full-time. Lantern staff may be asked to adjust schedules based on operational needs.

About the Role

The Shelter Compliance Manager oversees contract compliance, funder reporting, and internal quality assurance across Lantern's shelter programs. This role ensures audit readiness, strengthens program practices, and supports continuous improvement through data-driven monitoring, training, and collaboration with program leadership. This position is based primarily at Lantern's headquarters in Manhattan and supports multiple program sites, with occasional local travel to support off-site or community-based activities.

Essential Functions

  • Support the management of New York City shelter contracts and funder requirements.
  • Serve as a primary liaison with funders regarding compliance, reporting, and program performance.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of required funder reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables.
  • Plan and conduct internal compliance and quality assurance audits, including chart reviews and site visits.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor corrective action and quality improvement plans.
  • Analyze program data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to staff on compliance, reporting, and quality standards.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of program data and reporting tools.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from accredit school is required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in contract compliance, quality improvement, program operations, or data reporting in human services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate Excel skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to travel within the five boroughs of New York City.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with vulnerable or at-risk populations.
  • Experience working in a shelter environment.
  • Experience working with New York City government agencies.
  • Experience using CARES or other human services data systems.

Work Environment: This position operates primarily in an office setting, with regular visits to shelter sites serving individuals who may experience mental illness, substance use, disability, HIV/AIDS, and other chronic health conditions. 

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, climb stairs, and/or kneel. Occasionally, the employee may lift and/or move up to 5 pounds. Some responsibilities may include travel between sites, walking up to 0.25 miles, and carrying work materials weighing up to 8 pounds.
