POSITION: Staff Accountant

REPORTS TO: Senior Accountant
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely accounting records at Film at Lincoln Center. The Staff Accountant ensures the integrity of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll entries, and reconciliations, supporting the organization’s year-round programming and operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Routine Responsibilities:
Manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables function, including setting up new vendors and clients, timely preparation and distribution of invoices, following up on outstanding balances, coordinating past-due collection efforts, and applying incoming cash to the correct invoices.
Review invoices ensuring accurate coding and invoice details, as well as ensuring proper backup documentation is provided.
Maintain data hygiene of vendors to facilitate year-end 1099 and 1042-s filing.
Make regular bank deposits for all check payments received.
Monthly Responsibilities:
Execute a variety of reconciliations for the monthly closing of the organization’s financials, including reconciliation of concession revenue, payroll and benefits journal entries into the general ledger, and ensuring accurate reconciliation of payroll activity with cash.
Manage timely corporate credit card reconciliations, working with all departments to be sure entries are accurate and receipts are collected and organized.
Collaborate with the Senior Accountant in the areas of revenue recognition, contributions, pledge reconciliations, and vendor relations.
Annual/Quarterly Responsibilities:Â
File quarterly sales tax.Â
Assist Senior Accountant with year-end reconciliations including Payroll Accruals, Deferred Revenue, Ad Revenue, and Reimbursement accounts.
Assist Senior Accountant with auditor requests.
Prepare and distribute 1099 forms.
Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
2+ years Accounting experience, preferably in a not-for-profit arts organization.
Experience in Financial and Payroll Accounting.Â
Proven ability to work with management and colleagues, handle confidential information, and exercise discretion.
Well developed organizational skills combined with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Clear, courteous, and professional communication with co-workers, management, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Experienced in providing back up for annual financial audits and 990’s.
Willingness, adaptability, and eye for efficiency in learning new software and technology.
Flexible team player with the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Self-motivated, disciplined, with thorough and successful follow through.
Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, anticipate challenges, solve problems, and work under pressure - and also to recognize, communicate about, and resolve issues.
