Staff Software Engineer, Full-Stack

About the Role

A well-funded, Series C/D fintech company building purpose-built AI tooling for the financial sector is looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Full-Stack to join their New York City engineering team on-site. This is a high-impact, senior individual-contributor role at the heart of the product — partnering closely with Product and Customer Success to shape and ship major AI-powered features across the full stack. You'll be working with LLMs to build sophisticated financial workflows and institutional-grade experiences that real users depend on every day.

This is an ideal opportunity for a self-motivated engineer with a product-minded orientation, deep full-stack expertise, and a genuine enthusiasm for the intersection of AI and finance.

What You'll Do

• Shape product direction and technical design for AI-powered features across the full stack.

• Own major product features end-to-end — from design and architecture through launch and iteration.

• Build and maintain feedback loops with end users and the Customer Success team to continuously improve the product.

• Architect scalable systems and implement robust, performant software components.

• Ensure platform reliability and observability for production services.

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineers and domain experts to solve complex, nuanced problems.

• Iterate on UI/UX and product design to deliver exceptional user experiences.

What We're Looking For

Required

• 5+ years of industry experience in full-stack software engineering, delivering production-grade web applications.

• Strong CS fundamentals or equivalent practical experience.

• Extensive experience with React and TypeScript for front-end development.

• Proven experience deploying production full-stack applications using Python or Node.js (NestJS / Next.js) on the backend, with Docker, AWS, and Tailwind.

• Experience adopting and integrating the latest framework features (e.g., React Server Components, streaming) in production environments.

• Demonstrated experience collaborating with product, design, and domain experts to architect scalable systems in fast-paced environments.

• Strong ownership mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have

• Background as an early engineer at a hyper-growth startup.

• Experience at a leading AI research institution or world-class product organization.

• UI/UX or product design experience.

• Interest in or experience with financial industry workflows, AI agents, or LLM-powered tooling.

Location

This is a fully on-site role based in New York City, NY. Candidates must be able to work from the New York office full-time. Visa sponsorship is not available.
