POSITION SUMMARY:

The Station Agent plays a key role in providing professional, courteous, and timely service to all Amerijet customers, whether in person, by phone, or via email. This position is responsible for accurately processing and recording all shipping information for air freight services using the Amerijet SmartKargo system. The Station Agent also oversees daily station operations to ensure shipment accuracy, proper accounting, and the delivery of high-quality service.

 

 

Job Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

    • Performs all tasks in a timely, efficient, and organized manner.
    • Provides customers with accurate quotes, billing details, shipment tracking, and scheduling information upon request.
    • Reviews shipping documentation for accuracy and resolves any discrepancies.
    • Maintains accurate warehouse inventory records and coordinates local pick-ups and deliveries.
    • Inputs warehouse receipts for all accepted freight, including air and ocean shipments.
    • Ensures Proof of Delivery (POD) entries are completed accurately and promptly.
    • Assists customers with documentation, payment processing, and secure cash handling.
    • Reconciles daily revenue and supports accounting functions as needed.
    • Labels freight correctly in preparation for shipping.
    • Scans freight for tracking prior to loading onto trucks.
    • Maintains a clean and orderly facility to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for employees and customers.
    • Ensures all station operations comply with Amerijet’s policies, procedures, and service standards.
    • Loads and offloads trucks using a forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Conducts routine inspections to ensure work areas are free of safety hazards.
    • Performs inventory checks on a daily, weekly, monthly, or annual basis as directed.
    • Carries out additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.


  • Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
    • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
    • Strong administrative and computer skills are essential.
    • Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions, correspondence, and memos.
    • Proficient in basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
    • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
    • Comfortable presenting information in one-on-one or small group settings with customers, clients, or team members.
    • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed but straightforward written or verbal instructions.
    • Basic problem-solving skills with the ability to address routine issues in standardized situations.
    • Proficient in performing computerized transactions using PMI, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access), UNIX, Lotus Notes, and Internet Explorer.
    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Amerijet’s insurance requirements.

  • Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

    • Minimum of 1 year of warehouse experience.
    • Previous forklift operation experience.
    • Prior experience in customer service, including conflict resolution.
    • Experience in the airline or freight forwarding industry.
    • Familiarity with hazardous materials (HAZMAT) identification and proper handling procedures.

    • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, as well as departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and applicable government guidelines.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

    This position will not have direct reports but may require providing training for new team members.




    Language Skills:

    The employee must possess good interpersonal and communications skills, be able to effectively present information, respond to questions from managers and co-workers.

     

    Physical Activities and Requirements of the Position:

    The employee is regularly required to stand, frequently required walk, use hand to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Required to work in confined spaces. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; move about the facility. Must be able to work well under pressure. This position may require limited traveling. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
