About Standard Bots
Standard Bots is building the next generation of industrial robots — hardware that's powerful, affordable, and designed to scale. We're moving fast from prototype to high-volume production, and we need the financial and operational infrastructure to match. This role is central to that.
Note: This role is hybrid, with three days per week at our NYC office and frequent visits to our Glen Cove, NY robotics factory.
The Role
We're looking for a Strategy & Operations Manager to own the financial thinking behind how Standard Bots scales — and the cross-functional projects that turn those decisions into reality. One week you're building the margin model that shapes product pricing; the next you're running the ROI case for a factory expansion, then helping manage the build.
This is a generalist role in the best sense of the word. The work spans product economics, manufacturing finance, sourcing analysis, and high-priority cross-functional projects that don't fit neatly into any single team. What ties it together is strong financial modeling, a bias toward action, and a genuine interest in how fast-growing hardware companies operate.
You'll report to the VP of Operations and work directly with the executive team — including spending significant time on projects run by our Co-Founder, who leads Finance.
What You'll Do
Operating Plan & Reporting
- Own the planning and reporting cadence, including headcount: forecasts, tracking to plan, and reconciling to actuals
- Drive alignment on success criteria for key projects and initiatives, and own the reporting against them
Product Economics & Investment Framework
- Set gross margin baselines and define the path to target
- Build ROI, payback, and NPV analyses to prioritize across competing projects and capital allocation decisions
Manufacturing & CapEx
- Partner on factory expansion strategy and financing structure
- Own CapEx planning, tracking, and depreciation; manage inventory and working capital analysis
Sourcing & Supply Chain Finance
- Partner with Procurement on full-BOM analysis as we award business — country of origin, logistics and tariffs, CapEx implications, and payment terms
Business Finance
- Support sales and marketing incentive design, large commercial contract terms, and internal business initiatives
- Translate financial analysis into clear recommendations for the executive team
Cross-Functional Projects
- Own high-priority, time-sensitive work that cuts across teams — partnering with Hardware, Software, Manufacturing, and Quality where a generalist problem-solver creates leverage
What We're Looking For
- 6-10 years in finance, consulting, or a similar analytical generalist role
- Strong financial modeling skills — you can build a cost model from scratch and pressure-test your own assumptions
- A track record of owning projects end to end: budgets, timelines, contractors, and stakeholders
- A natural dot-connector who builds trust quickly across functions and seniority levels
- High comfort with ambiguity — you don't need a playbook to get started
Nice to Have
- Experience in a hardware, manufacturing, or deep tech environment
- Background at a startup that scaled through a major production or growth inflection point
- Exposure to supply chain finance or hardware unit economics
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $175,000 to $200,000. We are open to a variety of seniority levels for this role and will build compensation packages that are commensurate with seniority and skill level. Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at Standard Bots. All Full-Time Employees are eligible for Employee Stock Options. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees.
