We infuse a commitment to civic engagement, equity, and communal action into each of our programs, which include early childhood education, mental health and wellness, benefits assistance and eviction prevention, adult literacy and education, healthy aging, community, and recreation centers, performing and visual arts, and youth development.    University Settlement has been providing a variety of effective and strengths-based community-based programs for children grades K- 8th.  The Activity Specialist will be responsible for facilitating workshops while ensuring the safety and engagement of children.  The program will provide academic support; artistic, athletic, cultural, and athletic enrichment; therapeutic services; and opportunities for family involvement.     Responsibilities:  Activity Specialist II will work with groups of 15-20 students  Facilitating sessions in the areas of dance, music, leadership, sports, ESL, visual arts, and computer etc.  Specialists should be able to integrate young people’s life experiences while integrating thematic curriculum  Create an environment of active and genuine learning by employing a range of teaching strategies that meet the needs of all students  Projects should incorporate career awareness activities including field trips and guest speakers as well as community outreach and involvement  Write, revise and implement lesson plans using DYCD framework for approval by director  Monitor and report on students’ progress throughout the term of the activity    Qualifications:  Previous experience teaching/facilitating workshops in one of the subject areas   High School Diploma or HSE required   Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team  Attend planning, supervisor, and evaluation sessions  Strong communication skills  Ability to commit for the entire school year  Must be over 18 years old  Highly energetic, dynamic, and positive    Work Schedule: Seasonal Summer, Saturday, 5:00pm - 9:00pm, 4 hours per week    We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive community.
