Job Title: Underwriter, Property

Position Location: New York or New Jersey

Job Objectives:

Responsible for assisting with the underwriting of AWAC New York, New Jersey and Mid Atlantic property book of business. Provide support and pre-underwriting projects as directed by the underwriter staff in the New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia branches. Learning and developing the skills to understand property-based exposures and proper methods necessary to accurately underwrite and triage account submissions, meet regional premium growth, ensuring the execution of proper underwriting guidelines, participate in the marketing and servicing of existing and potential clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Aid with general underwriting functions as requested by underwriting staff. Including the review and triage of underwriting submissions, prepare preliminary PUS reports (property underwriting summaries), request catastrophe modelling, provide initial pricing (ProFit) models and exhibits for specific exposure analysis.

· Work directly with the assigned account coordinator to manage the daily requirements in order to adhere to Allied World processing procedures on assigned accounts. Provide timely and accurate policy issuance, endorsements, AP & RP calculations, quote/binder/invoice authorizations to our brokers.

· Understand and comply with the Internal Audit department procedures, aid with file documentation and maintenance of the proper required information.

· Marketing – attend client/broker meetings, lunches, dinners, and other social outings as applicable. Meet with key producers regularly to discuss production, service and other topics relative to mutual insureds and clients

· Adhere to the required Allied World underwriting, administrative and procedure guidelines.

· Follow Treaty and Facultative reinsurance protocols as required

· Stay current with respect to major industry issues and developments

· Provide specific exhibits, reports as needed by senior staff

· Other duties as assigned



Compensation:

The below annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market. The actual base pay for the position may be above or below he listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but now limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment. Base salary represents one compensation of Allied World comprehensive total reward package, which may also include annual incentive compensation rewards.

The base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree a plus
  • 1-5 years of industry experience, property preferred
  • Solid Writing and Communication Skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, and ability to multi task
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
  • Must be able to think originally, be willing to challenge ideas and be receptive to having their own ideas challenged
  • Willingness to travel
