VAD Coordinator - Heart Failure / LVAD - Mount Sinai Hospital - Full Time Day

The Clinical Ventricular assist device (VAD) Coordinator is a nurse with broad knowledge and skills who participates in coordination of the VAD program and services for the bridge to transplant and destination therapy patient population.

Clinical Practice

1.Participates in the development, implementation and coordination of clinical services and programs for VAD patient population. Activities may include but are       

not limited to:

a)Patient Screening: Assessment and evaluation of patient/family psychological and social preparedness for VAD insertion.

b)Assessment and evaluation of bridge to transplant/ destination patients pre operatively.

c)Coordinate care of the postoperative patient with the medical director and

d)the cardiothoracic team.

e)Coordinate discharge planning for VAD population

f)Assures 24 hour availability/on call for implantation and explanation of VAD on a rotational basis.

g)Follows VAD patients in the community and assures comprehensive out patient care.

h)Coordinates follow up care.

i)Participates and/ or conducts clinical research including IRB submissions, maintaining case report forms, and assuring protocol compliance.

j)Maintains VAD data base in accordance with good clinical practice mandates.

k)Act as a liaison between patient/family and clinical staff.

2.Promotes an interdisciplinary approach in patient care delivery.

3.Acts as a patient advocate utilizing Patient Bill of Rights.

4.Participates in promoting and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.

3.Is responsible and accountable for their own nursing practice.

Administrative Policy

1.Collaborates with other members of the health care team in the development, implementation and ongoing review of policies, procedures and standards of care for VAD patient population.

2.Demonstrates knowledge of hospital, department

• Progressive job related experience specific to area of responsibility.
• New York State RN License with current registration.
• Master’s is preferred
• BCLS certification – Issuing Authority: AHA or Red Cross

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $96461 - $144692 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
