Veterinary Assistant - Dermatology

As a Dermatology Veterinary Assistant, you will: 

• Be comfortable with heavy client communication 

• Obtain patient's history   

• Preferably, be comfortable with routine dermatology medications and side effects 

• Able to use Dermatology terms 

• Swab for Otic Cytology, and ear mite preparation 

• Prepare for Skin Biopsy 

• Able to recognize alopecia, nodules and tumors 

• Patient care including diagnostic procedures and treatments 

• Prepare prescriptions and communicate discharge orders to clients 

• Familiar and proficient with aseptic techniques 

• Familiar with laboratory procedures and practices

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for LVT'S and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for LVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time LVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
