The Role:
The Asset Strategy Lead (ASL), Late Development provides leadership to a cross-functional strategic asset team and leads the development and execution of the asset strategy. Further, the ASL champions the product/brand at all levels of Syndax and is responsible for managing the alignment on communication on all Asset Strategy Team (AST) matters, as appropriate.
We are seeking a Senior/Executive Director, Asset Strategy Lead, Late Development. This individual will bring a demonstrated record of strategic leadership and operational excellence in global oncology product development, with experience leading late-stage programs through regulatory approval and commercialization.
This role will be a key member of the Syndax’s senior leadership team, influencing portfolio strategy and execution. The ideal candidate will lead the asset with a long-term enterprise view, integrating scientific, clinical, regulatory, commercial, and financial perspectives to optimize asset value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for a late-stage, commercially approved asset with an ongoing Phase 3 program, ensuring seamless integration across clinical development, regulatory, and commercial lifecycle priorities.
- Lead the design and execution of a differentiated external strategy, with a strong focus on investigator-sponsored research (ISR), peer-to-peer scientific engagement, and academic collaboration to expand the evidence base and reinforce clinical value.
- Build and sustain high-impact relationships with key investigators, institutions, and thought leaders, positioning the asset and the company as a trusted, scientifically credible partner in the field.
- Serve as a visible external ambassador for the program and the organization at scientific congresses, advisory boards, and strategic forums, actively shaping the narrative and strengthening brand awareness and reputation.
- Identifies potential issues and leads contingency planning; leads AST problem solving and applies decision-making tools and techniques. Drives AST to make effective and efficient decisions.
- Serve as a key liaison to the Executive Leadership Team, providing updates, insights, and recommendations that inform enterprise decisions.
- Lead long-range planning, including scenario planning, investment strategy, and external innovation assessments related to the asset.
- Partner with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Development to shape Target Product Profile (TPP) and ensure robust lifecycle and global expansion planning.
- Leads resolution of conflict at the AST and oversees governance engagement, ensuring timely and transparent communication on key decisions, risks, budgets, and timelines.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence, modeling strong leadership and collaborative behaviors.
- Represent Syndax in strategic partnerships, collaborations, and scientific/medical forums as appropriate.
Desired Experience/Education and Personal Attributes:
- Educational Requirements: Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, or business (e.g., PhD, MD, MBA) highly preferred.
- A minimum of 10 or more years of experience in late-stage development, ideally including an approved asset and active Phase 3 or lifecycle expansion programs Demonstrated track record of operating at the intersection of development, medical affairs, and commercial functions, with direct experience in at least one of these areas (Medical Affairs, Commercial, or Market Access) strongly preferred.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to evaluate clinical strategy through a commercial lens, including understanding of market dynamics, competitive positioning, and value proposition development.
- Experience translating scientific and clinical data into differentiated product narratives that support launch excellence, lifecycle growth, and external brand building in a competitive therapeutic area.
- Proven ability to partner with Commercial and Medical Affairs teams to shape Target Product Profiles (TPP), inform positioning strategy, and align evidence generation with market needs.
- Deep understanding of late-stage and post-approval evidence generation strategies, including investigator-sponsored research (ISR), real-world evidence (RWE), and publication planning, with a focus on driving scientific influence and external credibility.
- Prior experience interacting with C-suite executives, external partners, and regulators.
- Highly collaborative, with strong influencing skills and ability to work across multiple levels and functions.
- Executive presence and outstanding communication skills, including comfort presenting to senior and external audiences.
- Experience with portfolio management, financial modeling, and program valuation is highly desirable.

Syndax offers a total compensation and rewards package that is among the most competitive in the industry. Base pay is just one element of our package and is determined within a range based on several factors including market data, experience, qualifications, demonstrated skills, relevant education or training, travel requirements and internal equity. Our overall package also includes an equity offering, annual target bonuses, and an outstanding benefits program. The anticipated annualized salary range for this role is $380,000 - $415,000.
