Position Summary:Essen Health Care is seeking a highly organized and community-driven Volunteer Coordinatorto oversee and expand volunteer engagement initiatives across our healthcare network. This rolewill focus on recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, and supporting volunteers who contribute topatient experience, community outreach programs, wellness initiatives, and healthcare supportservices throughout the Bronx and surrounding NYC communities.The ideal candidate is passionate about community impact, relationship-building, and healthcareoperations, with strong communication and coordination skills.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities• Recruit, interview, and onboard volunteers for clinical and non-clinical initiatives• Coordinate volunteer schedules across departments, events, and outreach programs• Maintain volunteer records, documentation, attendance, and compliance requirements• Conduct volunteer orientations and ongoing training sessions• Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers and community partnerships• Collaborate with leadership, providers, operations teams, and HR to identify volunteerneeds• Assist with organizing health fairs, community events, wellness campaigns, and outreachinitiatives• Track volunteer engagement metrics, participation, and program effectiveness• Ensure all volunteers follow HIPAA, confidentiality, and organizational policies• Support NYReach, IMG pathways, mentorship programs, and community engagementinitiatives as needed• Develop strategies to improve volunteer retention and satisfaction• Create presentations, flyers, and communications related to volunteer initiativesÂ
Qualifications
Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Healthcare Administration, Human Resources,Communications, Public Health, Social Work, or related field• 2+ years of experience in volunteer coordination, healthcare administration, recruiting,community outreach, or program coordination preferred• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills• Experience coordinating multiple schedules and priorities in a fast-paced environment• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling systems• Experience with healthcare or nonprofit environments preferred• Bilingual Spanish preferredPreferred Skills• Community engagement and relationship-building• Event planning and coordination• Public speaking and presentation skills• Social media/community outreach experience• Ability to work independently and collaboratively• Passion for serving underserved communities
