Summary:Ā Ā 

We are looking for a highly capable Senior Commercial General Liability Bodily Injury Claims Adjuster to join our team and work from anyĀ one ofĀ the ourĀ offices in Albany, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Omaha, Richmond (VA), Rockwood (PA), or Springfield (MO). This individual will report to the Director of General Liability Bodily Injury Claims who works in the Los Angeles, CA office.Ā Ā This roleĀ adjudicatesĀ moderately complex commercial general liability bodily injury claims and provides superb results for our clients.Ā

This is a 100%Ā in-office position. Candidates must be able to work on-site at a designated company office during standard business hours.Ā

EssentialĀ  Responsibilities:Ā 

  • WorkingĀ under limited technical direction and within broad limits and authority,Ā adjudicateĀ moderately complex commercial generalĀ liabilityĀ bodily injury claims, potentially with significant impact on departmental results.Ā Ā 

  • Solving difficultĀ problems thatĀ requires an understanding of a broader set of issues.Ā 

  • Reporting to senior management and underwriters onĀ claimsĀ trends and developments.Ā 

  • Analyzing claims forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions, and other records toĀ determineĀ whether the loss falls within the policy coverage.Ā 

  • Investigating claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing all involved parties.Ā Ā 

  • Managing claims in litigationĀ Ā 

  • Managing diaryĀ timelyĀ and complete tasks to ensure that cases move to the best financial outcome andĀ timelyĀ resolution.Ā Ā Ā Ā 

  • Creates and reviews reserves in line with market and Argo's reserving policyĀ 

  • IdentifyingĀ loss drivers and claims trends to reduce claims frequency and severity through data analysis and improved claim managementĀ 

  • Identifying, assigning, and coordinating the assignment and coordination ofĀ expertiseĀ resources toĀ assistĀ in case resolution.Ā Ā 

  • Preparing reports for file documentationĀ Ā 

  • Applying creative solutions which result in the best financial outcome.Ā Ā 

  • Negotiates inĀ a timelyĀ and effective manner to provide cost effective solutions for the company and its customers withinĀ ownĀ limits using a range of negotiation styles.Ā 

  • Processing mail and prioritizing workload.Ā Ā Ā 

  • Completing telephone calls and written correspondence to/from various parties (insured, claimant, etc.).Ā Ā 

  • Having an appreciation and passion for strong claim management.Ā

Qualifications / Experience Required:Ā 

  • Must have good business acumen (i.e.Ā understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts both Argo Group and our customers’ ability to be profitable).Ā 

  • An advanced knowledge of commercial general liability bodily injury claims typicallyĀ acquiredĀ through:Ā 

  • A minimum of five years’ experienceĀ adjudicatingĀ commercial general liability bodily injury claims.Ā Ā 

  • Bachelor’sĀ degree from an accredited universityĀ required.Ā Ā Two or more insurance designations or fourĀ additionalĀ years of related experienceĀ adjudicatingĀ generalĀ liabilityĀ bodily injury beyond the minimum experienceĀ requiredĀ above may be substituted in lieu of a degree.Ā 

  • Licensed Claims Examiner (Based on state) Must be licensed or have ability to quickly obtain a license in eachĀ jurisdictionĀ requiring a license toĀ adjudicateĀ first party claims. within 120 Days.Ā 

  • Must work independently andĀ demonstrateĀ the ability to exercise sound judgment.Ā 

  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships.Ā 

  • Excellent evaluation and strategic skillsĀ required.Ā 

  • Strong claim negotiation skillsĀ a must.Ā Ā Ability to takeĀ proactiveĀ and pragmatic approach to negotiation.Ā

  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize workload while handling multiple tasks and deadlines.Ā

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will beĀ commensurateĀ with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.Ā 

  • Albany and Chicago Pay Range:Ā $111,400 - $132,500Ā 

  • Los Angeles and New York City Pay Range:Ā $121,500 - $144,500Ā
