Position Summary
Oscar Stone is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Jewelry Repairer / Bench Jeweler to join our team. The Jewelry Repairer will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, restoring, and maintaining a variety of jewelry pieces while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship and quality.
The ideal candidate has strong bench-jewelry skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently while handling valuable jewelry and precious materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform jewelry repairs, adjustments, restorations, and alterations.
- Repair rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, chains, and other jewelry pieces.
- Perform ring sizing, including sizing up and down when appropriate.
- Solder and repair broken chains, clasps, prongs, settings, and other jewelry components.
- Replace and repair damaged or missing stones and settings.
- Repair and replace prongs and perform stone-setting work.
- Clean, polish, buff, and finish jewelry pieces.
- Inspect jewelry carefully before and after repairs to ensure quality and workmanship.
- Identify potential damage, loose stones, worn settings, and other repair concerns.
- Handle precious metals, gemstones, diamonds, and high-value jewelry with care.
- Use jewelry tools, equipment, and machinery safely and properly.
- Maintain an organized and clean workbench and repair area.
- Accurately document completed repairs and communicate repair status when required.
- Work with sales associates and management to determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Complete repairs within established deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
- Protect customer property and maintain strict attention to security and company procedures.
- Follow all company policies and procedures regarding jewelry handling, security, and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a bench jeweler, jewelry repairer, or jewelry technician preferred.
- Strong knowledge of jewelry repair techniques and precious metals.
- Experience with soldering, ring sizing, polishing, stone setting, and general jewelry repairs.
- Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Ability to work with small tools and delicate jewelry components.
- Ability to identify quality issues and determine appropriate repair methods.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with the sales and management teams.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle valuable merchandise responsibly and professionally.
- Jewelry school, technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Diamond and gemstone setting experience.
- Experience repairing luxury or fine jewelry.
- CAD/design experience is a plus.
- Laser welding experience is a plus.
- Watch repair experience is a plus.
- Experience working with gold, platinum, silver, and other precious metals.
