Kitchen Assistant

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Work closely with the kitchen manager and demonstrate Capital Prep Harbor School values, by providing the highest level of service possible in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner to ensure a positive experience to the young customers.

The kitchen assistant will follow and perform all the rules and policies for the Child Nutrition Program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

●    Help in the kitchen, set up, and assemble line for lunch easy flow.

●    Cashiering during lunch meals.

●    Provide prompt, courteous, and professional service to students and staff.

●    Clean up once meals have been served.

●    Follow safe and proper procedures in the course of daily work

●    Arrive on time and demonstrate effective time management.

●    Attend yearly training required by the USDA.

●    Other duties as assigned, including tasks that support the essential functions of the Child Nutrition Program.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

●    Must hold NYC Food Server Certification.

●    Must have excellent communication and people skills.

●    Must possess basic math skills.

●    Ability to multi-task and be detailed oriented.

●    Able to successfully work independently and as part of the team.

●    Ability to work unsupervised must be focused and detailed.

●    Ability to lift and carry at least 20 pounds.

●    Ability to stand on feet for a long period of time. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

●    Comply with applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards.
