Working remotely or at one of our offices located across the country, you will report directly to the Senior Corporate Counsel, Litigation (based in New York) and will work closely with other members of the legal and risk management teams throughout North America. Responsibilities include assisting with handling disputes and legal claims across North America, providing preliminary advice, drafting initial correspondence, coordinating local litigation counsel, and overseeing proceedings. You will have sole carriage of various matters including fee disputes, tort claims, and employment/labor matters. Manage external counsel to ensure budget and service expectations are maintained. Work closely with internal insurance team members and insurance carriers on claims coverage. Liaise with internal personnel to obtain relevant information on ongoing matters. Maintain an internal tracking database of ongoing claims, including status and budget tracking. Stay current on relevant laws impacting litigation risk and identify risk mitigation opportunities. Oversee special research projects as requested. Other duties as assigned. Requires JD or LL.B from an accredited law school, membership in at least one State Bar in good standing, 1-4 years litigation experience (in-house experience a plus), knowledge in real estate agreements, labor and employment, or tort law preferred. Strong organizational, time management, project management, communication skills, and advanced Microsoft Office skills required.
