Clinical Duties
- Prepare patients for examination (vital signs, height, weight, chief complaint, medical history).
- Assist providers during exams and minor procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy, collect specimens (blood, urine, swabs), and label correctly.
- Conduct point-of-care testing (blood glucose, rapid strep, pregnancy test, urinalysis, etc.).
- Document care in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms (sanitizing, restocking supplies).
- Support infection control protocols and proper use of PPE.
Administrative Duties
- Schedule patient radiology appointments.
- Answer phones, relay messages, and manage patient inquiries.
- Greet patients and manage check-in/check-out process.
- Process referrals to specialists and imaging centers.
- Maintain patient records, update demographics, and ensure accuracy.
- Handle medical correspondence, including faxing, scanning, and emailing.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Education Required  HS Diploma or Equivalence
- License/Certification/Registration(s) Required Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program
- Experience/Skills Required- One (1) year previous experience in a medical setting of relevant experience required. Excellent communication/interpersonal skills. Bilingual preferred. Knowledge of Computer Technology preferred. Successful completion of St. Barnabas Hospital orientation.
