After School Tumbling Teacher

Pay Rate: $50 – $70 per hour, commensurate with experience (including preparation and clean-up time)
Schedule:
- Full school year: September 2026 – June 2027, adhering to the Bank Street calendar
- Days: Tuesdays and Wednesdays
- One 45-minute session per day, 3:15 PM – 4:00 PM, each focused on a specific age group: 3s–4/5s and 5/6s–6/7s
- Part-time, hourly position

About the Position
The After School Tumbling Teacher leads an after school course that supports age-appropriate experiences with a variety of tumbling skills, including somersaults, climbing, and stretching. Working with the After School Administrative Team and under the supervision of the Auxiliary Programs team, the Tumbling Teacher devises age-appropriate curriculum and activities and shares relevant information with supervisors as needed. This role is well suited to an educator who is enthusiastic about movement, body awareness, and physical confidence in early childhood.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum and Instruction
- Work cooperatively with administrators and supervisors to create age-appropriate tumbling curriculum and activities for each age group
- Lead developmentally appropriate tumbling activities, including somersaults, climbing, and stretching
- Build relationships with students so they treat each other well and stay on task
Classroom Community and Management
- Participate as a member of a collaborative, cooperative After School program, sharing information and strategies to sustain a healthy classroom community
- Use classroom management skills to run and support an energetic classroom of children while maintaining and reinforcing health and safety rules
Safety, Equipment, and Dismissal
- Support students in moving safely through the hallways and in and out of the building, following building-wide health and safety regulations
- Retrieve available equipment within the building and return it to its proper place when sessions are finished for the day
- Oversee the safe transfer of children to after school programming and dismissal to authorized adults

Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma
- Experience leading tumbling, gymnastics, or movement activities with children
- Willingness to collaborate and work as part of a team, as well as develop skills in working with individual children, small groups, and the whole class
- Curiosity about and commitment to learning more about Bank Street’s approach to this type of learning
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience teaching tumbling or movement courses to the age groups indicated
- Experience managing a classroom and teaching children (experience working with young children a plus)
- Experience with progressive education
- Prior experience working as part of the Bank Street community
