One World Observatory, positioned atop One World Trade Center, offers 360-degree views of the New York skyline from the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. Visitors are invited start their journey to the top in the SkyPod™ Elevators that depict the rise of NYC in just 47 seconds, experience the sights and sounds of the city in the See Forever™ Theater or discover something new from the Observatory's team of tour guides at City Pulse. The space also features ONE Dine, a view restaurant and bar, offering elevated American cuisine and a selection of beers, wines, and specialty cocktails. The private event space, ASPIRE at One World Observatory, offers 9,000 square feet of private event space with unparalleled views for up to 450 guests.  

THE ROLE

The Barback plays a dynamic and interactive role in supporting an exceptional guest experience while enhancing how guests engage with the Observatory. This position is integral to bar operations by ensuring bartenders have the supplies, equipment, and resources necessary to deliver efficient, high-quality service and a memorable experience for local, national, and international guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide bartenders with the supplies, equipment, and support needed to deliver exceptional guest service.
  • Stock and replenish bar supplies, including filling ice bins and restocking inventory as needed.
  • Anticipate operational needs throughout each shift to support efficient bar service.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked bar and service areas.
  • Prepare assigned work areas and complete opening and closing responsibilities as instructed.
  • Follow operating standards outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Maintain prompt, high-quality service standards at all times.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and guest-focused demeanor in all guest interactions.
  • Practice safe work habits by following all company safety policies, procedures, regulations, and required training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this role successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE     

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of experience, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Basic knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems preferred.
     

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume hospitality environment.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing operational priorities.
  • Knowledge of restaurant service standards, table settings, and dining etiquette preferred.
  • Ability to learn and communicate menu offerings accurately.
  • Maintain professional appearance and personal hygiene standards.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull; lift and carry up to 50 pounds; and work safely in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic computer literacy, including regular access to email for company communications.

COMPENSATION

$11.35 per hour + eligible gratuities and a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401(k) plan.
