(For more information, please visit: https://www.cpc-nyc.org)       PROGRAM DESCRIPTION   CPC Education and Career Services (ECS) provides dynamic programs and activities that bridge youth and adults with their highest educational, economic and leadership potential. ECS believes it is never too early or too late to start learning, which is why we use an asset-based approach to maximize clients’ current strengths. Whether in our schools, community centers, or internship sites, ECS creates equitable learning environments that promote leadership development, self-advocacy, and community building. Our programs equip clients with essential skills and experiences today so that they are empowered to take the next step tomorrow. COMPASS Elementary: Department of Youth & Community Development/Comprehensive After School System (DYCD/COMPASS) provides youth after school services to school-age children ages 5-12 years old. COMPASS seeks to promote positive youth development, foster social and emotional skills, and encourage youth leadership through engaging activities that incorporate hands-on learning in safe, welcoming environments. The program includes academic support, physical exercise, and enrichment of age-appropriate activities such as literacy or STEM to enhance the academic, social, and physical development of children during the after-school hours and on certain school holidays.   ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Group Leader will:  Develop and implement lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate, aligned to Common Core Standards, and designed to promote academic, recreational, and social-emotional learning.  Facilitate daily activities in core subjects such as Math and English Language Arts, as well as Science, Social Studies, and cultural enrichment.  Always maintain active supervision of children to ensure a safe and supportive environment; respond appropriately to behavioral concerns and medical needs.  Document student attendance, behavior incidents, and classroom observations in accordance with CPC policies and program requirements.  Foster a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative classroom culture that reflects CPC’s values and supports youth development.  Collaborate effectively with program peers, site supervisors, school staff, and CPC leadership.  Ensure classrooms are organized, well-maintained, and stocked with necessary instructional and recreational materials.  Attend required trainings, meetings, and professional development sessions.   Report to and fulfill other related duties as assigned by the Program Director.  QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS   Education and Experience: Must have at least two years of direct experience working with children under 13 years old and have Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.  Must have the necessary content knowledge, experience, and skills to implement the program activities effectively, including executing lesson plans and leading structured educational, recreational, and cultural activities for youth.  Current CPR/first aid/AED certification or willingness to complete this training/certification within 6 months of hire is required.    Skills and Competencies: Must be 18 years of age or older.  Knowledge of the principles of positive youth development.  Strong social and emotional maturity and behavioral management skills.  Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.  Fluency in Arabic and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) or Spanish preferred.    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW   $18.90 to $20.00 per hour; 20-25 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekends  CPC offers eligible part-time staff members mandatory benefits, including paid New York State sick time   HOW TO APPLY   Interested individuals should submit their resume, along with a cover letter addressed to Crystal Hu (chu@cpc-nyc.org), Rebecca Giordano (rgiordano@cpc-nyc.org) and Ying Xie (yxie@cpc-nyc.org), when applying online via CPC’s website: https://www.cpc-nyc.org/jobs or selected online job boards.
