Position Overview: 

The Social Worker – Alternative to Detention provides direct clinical services to youth aged 13 to 20 with court-involvement. The SW-ATD conducts short-term counseling interventions to address participants’ developmental, behavioral, and social needs. The SW-ATD also helps youth understand their charges, the impact of their actions, and ways to avoid further involvement in the juvenile justice-system. The SW-ATD collaborates with families, referral sources, court stakeholders, and community partners to support participants’ compliance with program requirements and successful case resolution. Services are provided in the community and other designated locations.

Position Qualifications:

LMSW, LCSW, LMHC or equivalent preferred, or master’s degree in social work with minimum two-years of relevant job or internship experience. Familiarity with MI, CBT, DBT, Trauma-informed approaches, and other treatment modalities. Skilled communicator to work in a multi-disciplinary setting and maintain strong relationships with multiple agencies and organizations both on-site and in the community. Understanding of adolescent development. Ability to write in a clear and detailed manner. Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to support youth availability. Strong analytical skills. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
