The Litigation Paralegal’s role is to aid associates and partners in litigation
Role summary/purpose of job
The Litigation Paralegal will work closely with Litigation associates. The individual will also have, or will quickly develop, the foresight to anticipate and respond to the needs of the attorneys, the clients and/or the case as necessary.
Key responsibilities and deliverables
- Create and organize binders and document sets
- Monitor specialized media
- Proofread
- Translate documents
- Fact research
- Organize files using different databases
- Modify PDF files
- Hearing and/or trial prep (logistical arrangements)
- Attention to correspondence
- Maintain case files
- General case file organization (paper and electronic)
- Records management
- Coordinate with vendors
- Liaise within team
- Provide case status updates to attorneys
- Coordinate additional staffing when needed
- Coordinate with litigation support regarding data loading, productions, etc.
- Run searches and document pulls from electronic/hardcopy case file
- Prioritize workload among several cases
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required (GPA 3.5+)
- 0-1 years of experience
- Enthusiastic, pro-active, self-motivated, flexible
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Decisive, maturity of judgment
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong proofreading ability
- Ability to communicate professionally with partners, associates, and clients
- Respond quickly and accurately on email
- Foreign language a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with database searching and use
- Must be willing to and interested in working overtime hours, including nights and weekends on short notice with some ability or desire to travel
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York and California or reporting to someone in those states, Freshfields is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the States of New York and California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $60,000 to $62, 500.
