Work Environment: This position is a hybrid role with  expectations for 3 days onsite and 1 day remote. 

POSITION SUMMARY: The ideal candidate will be a first-year law student with an interest in entertainment, music, or copyright law; second-year law students will also be considered. The legal intern will become familiar with the daily workflow of in-house counsel, assisting attorneys in analyzing case files, completing research and writing assignments, and reviewing recent case law on topics central to BMI's work. 

 

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

 

  • Research and drafting briefs and supporting documentation for copyright enforcement matters.
  • Research into to trust and estate law and communication with potential heirs for estate matters.
  • Evaluation of copyright, trademark and other intellectual property issues.
  • Assist BMI staff attorneys on various other issues affecting the Company.
  • Regular attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Education: Applicants must be in pursuit of a JD degree at an accredited institution and able to provide documentation to confirm degree progress Must have completed at least one year of JD program. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Must return to school in the Fall of 2026

 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated
  • Proficient in Legal Research on Lexis and/or Westlaw
  • Proficiency in MS Office/Excel/PowerPoint
