Substation Electrical Engineer

These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

KBR is looking for a Substation Electrical Engineer, SME to supervise and lead a group of engineers and designers.  Provides technical direction, training, mentoring and/or quality checking project deliverables. You will plan, budget, organize, and control an important segment of a very extensive and highly diversified engineering scope.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Must have experience leading teams of electrical engineers and designers on projects for electrical substations.

  • Experience is required related to the development of task analysis for engineering and design hours; working with project schedules; and tracking earned value on the completed electrical engineering and design.

  • The candidate must be able to travel to client sites for client meetings and surveys of existing facilities.  

  • Must be proficient on the following technical topics:

    • High voltage substation engineering and design.

    • Substation yard layouts, sections, grounding, lightning protection, raceways, and bill of materials.

    • One lines, three lines, auxiliary AC and DC power systems and schematics, relay panels, and equipment wiring.

    • Protection and controls design.

    • Calculations (grounding, lightning protection, AC and DC load studies, etc.).

    • Substation equipment specifications.

    • National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE / ANSI Standards

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 10+ years of experience required.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license is preferred.
