Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire a full-time Bookkeeper to be responsible for overseeing the hospital's financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations.


ABOUT SILVER LAKE HOSPITAL

Silver Lake Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital with a reputation of providing patients with a place to heal before heading home. A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is an acute care specialty hospital that provides highly advanced and focused care for higher acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in traditional general hospitals. The average length of stay in an LTACH is 25 days as compared to a 3-5 day average stay in a general hospital. Our safe and state of the art hospital is designed to admit and care for the most critically ill patients.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Bookkeeper acts as part of the management team to determine financial objectives, furnish financial reports, analyze and reports variances, establish billing procedures, and organizes and maintains the hospital's financial accounting system. The Bookkeeper manages all accounts payable functions, maintains vendor records and vendor inquiries, and ensures invoices are verified and processed in a timely manner. This position also ensures all bank transactions are properly and timely recorded and is responsible for processing and distributing yearly 1099s in accordance with IRS regulations. The Bookkeeper maintains bank's positive pay, reconciles all bank accounts, and assists with costs report preparation. The Bookkeeper also submits the required state and federal reports, performs the hospital operations analyses, develops and maintains financial policies and procedures and monitors performance. This position will have direct experience with internal and external audits, accounting, and payroll.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • At least five (5) years of accounting experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Experience in long-term acute care (LTACH) hospitals preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting software, corporate principals, payroll systems, and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of HCS/Well Sky financial software.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal requirements.
  • Must have excellent multi-tasking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior communication skills with all levels of hospital staff, physicians, and patient sources.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on tasks without direct supervision.
  • Proficient in computer systems, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
