Description

The Doorman/Risk Manager, under the direction of the General Manager, is responsible for monitoring the daily operations of the bar, including carding all patrons to ensure that they are of age to consume alcohol; monitoring patron behavior to avoid over-consumption; monitoring patrons to ensure that underage patrons are not served alcohol; and gaining assistance from law enforcement authorities in handling patrons who are posing a threat to others or who are disruptive.

Essential Functions:

• Checks the legal identification of all patrons entering the bar to ensure that they are 21 years of age.
• Places a wrist band securely around the wrists of patrons who have proper identification.
• Monitors the patrons who are of age to ensure that they are not providing alcohol to minors at any time.
• Monitors all patrons to ensure that they are not displaying behaviors that are disruptive, argumentative, combative, or visibly intoxicated.
• Monitors bar transactions to ensure that patrons are not being over-served and that all transactions are rung in according to Grotto policy.
• Contacts management and law enforcement for assistance with patrons who exhibit behaviors that could cause harm to other patrons or themselves.
• Circulates through the bar area to prevent problems from occurring.
• Protects company property and assets through proactive interactions that prevent patrons from becoming intoxicated.
• Documents all incidents of problems with patrons or staff immediately after the incident. Include statements from staff or patrons who were involved, or who witnessed the issue.
• Work cooperatively with the on-duty managers in gathering this information.

Requirements

Must be 21 years of age.

Must have ABCC certification that is current.

Ability to assess legal forms of identification to authenticate the age of the patrons.

Ability to defuse potentially disruptive or threatening behavior through non-physical techniques.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Self-discipline, initiative, and leadership ability.
• Pleasant, polite manner and a neat, clean appearance.
• Ability to work with bar staff to ensure that the serving of alcohol complies with State and Grotto Pizza standards.
• Ability to keep the General Manager fully informed on all issues and to take prompt actions where necessary or suggest alternate courses of action.
• Ability to maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and positive working climate which will be conducive to employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.
• Ability to write clear, concise and accurate reports and to gathering accompanying statements and documentation (bar tabs, witness statements, pictures of property damage).
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
